redfiona99Delayed by RL - some more of the Regal/Jericho pirate AU I started for opera142 many years ago.
This is probably set before the previous bit.
Right now, he was allegedly being held hostage.
"At some point, we're going to have to come up with a different story; otherwise, the platoon stationed at Port Royal are going to get a reputation for incompetence."
The problem was that Jericho didn't want to set up a business front on land, because it made him feel trapped, but they still needed to meet, and it was hard for Regal to go anywhere without attracting attention now that he was governor. Which meant they had to come up with a way to meet to discuss business, and "kidnapping the governor from his residence" had become Jericho's go to way of speaking to him.
The problem was that if it kept happening, even if Regal never mentioned it in his reports with the excuse that it would make him look weak back home, word would get back and there'd be trouble - either an enlarged detachment, Marines, or his own recall back to Britain.
They really would have to come up with a new excuse.
