End notes: In much the same way as the second part was my favourite scene of Civil War, I really liked the way it felt that Steve and Bucky had a whole conversation in a glance when Steve went through the portal (I am on team "Bucky knew what he was going to do") which is why Bucky isn't shocked at the end. So this is my take on how that scene would go in this AU.

Both of them have canonically dressed up as each other, and the resemblance is uncanny.)

Bucky still falls off the train, but Hydra don't find him, while Steve still goes down stopping Schmidt's plan, but he is found by Hydra. I have also included a piece of personal fanon, which is that Bucky was experimented on by Schmidt and Hydra while originally captured so he has something similar to super soldier serum going on.

And yes, in the AU version of Civil War that follows, the arm becomes a plot point.

Notes: Written to a prompt from LGBTfest 2009. The original prompt was, "The laws of every land condemn sodomy--but they're at sea." Physical descriptions from a version I saw in Manchester once (which was most excellent). The more piratical parts were influenced by this - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pirate_code. A couple of bits of dialogue pinched from Shakespeare.

There is some very 16th century medicine in here and some highly inaccurate sailing vernacular.

Summary: The law of the sea was that you look for survivors when you pass a wreck, and you save them if you find them. Antonio has followed the sea's laws all his life, and knows how they differ from the laws of the land. When he and his crew rescue a half-drowned survivor from a wreck, Antonio finds himself caught between the sea's laws and the land's laws.

Dreamwidth end notes: Yup, I did write this with Sebastian's name being Sebastian all the way through. And then realised that the parts I had to quote from the play included the "Sebastian called himself Roderigo on the boat" parts. I thought that it would be fine, and some retrospective rewriting of memory on Antonio's part could be blamed. And then I realised I needed the Sebastian = Roderigo bit for the ending. Cue re-write.

Many adventures are had when either Batman or Robin is caught in public with a wedding ring, and the reverse, on those few occasions when either Bruce or Dick is spotted without theirs on. Alfred becomes very good at surreptitiously passing them rings.

You all know the Gotham Globe, right, the Gazette is it's downmarket rival. Imagine the National Enquirer with a Bruce Wayne fixation.
