AU Meme - Day 8 - Futuristic

A lot of my fandoms are either specifically set in the future or are vaguely 5 years in the future (discussion - part of the reason some people feel really disconnected from the Marvel films is that they claim to be now but all the every day tech, even what we see random by-passers using, feels futuristic. It feels unreal.)

In keeping with my imp of the perverse, my fic bit for this will therefore be set in the late 1930s. And will feature the Ponds*.

*I don't care, they are the Ponds. And Rory will agree with me.

There were some advantages to being sent back to the 1930s. While she and Rory knew the rough outlines of what would happen, in America they didn't know the details of day to day life, so they couldn't put their foot in it by saying something. And when they did make mistakes, it was put down to them being English (Amy had tried to explain that she was Scottish and one day people would listen).

Even so, Amy is reasonably sure that radios in the very early 1940s didn't have remote controls. It wasn't the only small gadget she'd seen recently in their neighbourhood that was quite like what it should be. Something was definitely up.


This is followed by investigations and it turns out there's an alien equally stranded (by the build up of time energy) and he's been fixing peoples' electronic devices. I will probably expand it into a proper fic when Darth Real Life calms down.
