A Vexed Question of Layout

Writing my X-Men Movieverse ficathon fic, and I suddenly realise my author's notes are somewhat extensive, because I've had to smoosh film canon, comic canon and reasonable fanon (that has to be used for films 1 + 3 to work together) and I wanted to explain what came from where.

So, do I:

1) abbreviate them
2) stick them at the end
or
3) some other option that I haven't thought of but you clever people have.

The best way to handle notes is to pare them down to the ABSOLUTE minimum that is genuinely necessary. People want to read the story, not (usually) the author's explanation. My recommendation would be to leave the notes separate and make them available for anyone who *wants* to read them.
