In which there is Torchwood
Robert Pugh, even under enough make-up to kill a horse, is the man.
I love Owen, unreservedly. And Jack. I'm afraid I have the same ability to comprehend that not everything can be fixed that they have. I am intrigued that Jack trusted Ianto to deal with the Island of the Damned (which I'm sure has an equivalent in Celtic mythology) and that he wouldn't do something silly like Gwen.
But yes, that was both depressing and good. And right. People very rarely want the real truth, they want the truth euphamised.
I also saw the Keira Knightley Pride and Prejudice. Which wasn't good, but it wasn't as bad as expected.
The turn Elizabeth into a sour miss when she falls in love. Which she totally isn't. Darcy is a wet drip, which he totally isn't. And Wickham was basically removed from the story and was played by a girl. I wasn't aware they had hosen-role in films any more.
They didn't screw up Bingley. He is still the most lovely and adorable thing in britches ever to toddle round a page. Simon Wood is good, even if he is slightly bumbly, and the most terrifying thing is that he was using the 'Oh hell, Octavian is planning look' as 'Bingley is about to propose' and I cheered it, rather than worrying about the health of the main cast.
I'm not sure I liked what they did with Mr. Bennett, even if Donald Sutherland, and his wandering accent, did their best.
Mother and me did have 15 fits about the entire Bennett family apparently having been moved down about 5 social classes in this adaptation, and people having anachronistic clothing and the like.
