I log in to find 3 shiny new fics on my f-list, which brightened the day considerably. There shall be feedback, eventually. So behind on the feedback front.
I was probably going to be high pitched and squeaky anyway, since I have seen both an extended Dr. Who trailer and a trailer for the new Bond.
Bond first - you know what, Daniel Craig doesn't look right. But then again neither did Roger Moore. What he does do right is that he's dangerous. Something that Pierce Brosnan definitely didn't have. And he was all action-Bond and disarmed someone with a knife and and and eee!. I am, in other words, looking forward to it immensely.
Somehow I think the Cybermen will either terrify the life out of me, or I won't be that terrified. I mean that's the thing, while they will hit some of my terror spots (scary, unstoppable, transform you into them) I know they won't hit all of them because they can be defeated. With gold.
The monsters that really scare me are things like Daleks or the Alien or the gas mask children can't be stopped. It's one of the reasons why I don't find vampires or werewolves scary. Everyone knows how to stop them. It might well also be why, with the exception of the Gentlemen, Buffy never scared me.
I'm certain there was something else I meant to say but I can't think what it was, so I shall be seeing you.

Date: 2006-05-05 05:53 am (UTC)I will admit that I was all MEH when I saw that they cast this BLOND guy as Bond, especially when I LOVELOVELOVELOVELOVELOVEMADLOVEOMG Pierce Brosnan. But I guess I shall withhold judgement until I see it myself, but I really can't help but be disappointed when I remember reading how Tarantino wanted to do Casino Royale with Brosnan, and that just sounds ultra freaking cool. I know Brosnan always wanted to do a sharp take on Bond, since Bond really is becoming a very tired franchise. Anyway, I like the sound of a dangerous edge Bond though. I've often said that Brosnan epitomizes the fantasy Bond, in the style of Connery: cool and suave and never in a moment's true danger. But when it comes to actual spy Bond, I've always preferred Timothy Dalton. He's got the hard edge.
PS: I hate Roger Moore. As Bond.

I know what you mean re: fantasy v spy Bond, because Connery and Brosnan were perfect for Film! Bond while Dalton was book Bond.
