This Week's Pop Culture reference
Jun. 13th, 2003 09:18 pmEvanessence are number one in the UK with 'Bring Me To Life'. And so they were on TOTP, and rocked. And when you think of the awful accoustics in the studio that takes some doing. Plus she, the lead singer, is so sweet.
If you only download one track this week make it 'Growing on Me' by The Darkness. Because both they and it are great. Plus the lead singer is making a one man campaign for the return of catsuits to rock. And for an increase in male nudity in rock videos. Very tuneful as well they are although the lead singer does bear an unholy resemblance to the impression of Mick Jagger done on 'Stella Street', which is a programme I heartily recommend.
On the odd side of things, Recovered featured the worrying sound of Westlife singing bits of a Metallica song (So What) which coming hot on the heels of Pharell Williams of NERD/the Neptunes singing bits of Our House by Madness confirms RE: Covered's position as the oddest programme on TV.
