I know it's March, the start of 2022 has been very busy.

1) Was 2021 a good year for you?

I definitely cannot complain. Work was a bit much at times, but mostly, all is going well.

2) What was your favourite moment of the year?

C's hen do.

3) What was your least favourite moment of the year?

Shall we euphemise and say things related to the NHS's poor communication re: test follow ups.

4) Where were you when 2021 began?

Bradford

5) Who were you with?

The mothership

6) Where will you be when 2021 ends? / Where were you when 2021 ended?
7) Who will you be with when 2021 ends? / Who were you with when 2021 ended?

Also Bradford, also the mothership.

8) Did you keep your new years resolution of 2021?

Some of them. The flat is being tidied for external reasons, but yes, I am seeing the benefits and am putting systems into place (or a bin in the living room at least).

9) Do you have a new years resolution for 2022?

Not really.

10) Did you fall in love in 2021?

No.

11) If yes, with who?
12) If yes, do they know?
13) Do you regret it?
14) Did you breakup with anyone in 2021?

No.

15) Did you make any new friends in 2021?

There has been a lack of opportunity. I am trying to be better about keeping in touch with old ones instead.

16) Who are your favourite new friends?

See above.

17) What was your favourite month of 2021?

September was quite good. And June.

18) Did you travel outside of the US UK in 2021?

Nope, plague was still on. This summer looks to be being home-based for the holidays (or, yay! I've got a week's worth of Commonwealth Games tickets and plan to use them).

19) How many different states did you travel to in 2021?

n/a

20) Did you lose anybody close to you in 2021?

One of my old fencing coaches in January, due to COVID. It remains weird. We had a fencing regional meeting last week and there was someone (who, on thinking must have been B from County W) who looked enough like him through the terrible internet connection that I was mildly freaked. Although I presume if he was going to haunt places, he'd have better things to do than haunt fencing Regional AGMs.

21) Did you miss anybody in the past year?

See above.

22) What was your favourite movie that you saw in 2017?

Probably Jungle Cruise. Yes, I know.

23) What was your favourite song from 2017?

I am so out of modern music, and am presently relying on Spotify. New to me, To Lose My Life by White Lies (which, note to self, is not called either 'Let's Grow Old Together' or 'Die At the Same Time').

I'd say it's more cheerful than it sounds. Except it's really not, except when it is. It's very 00s new wave.

24) What was your favourite record from 2021?

I repeat my previous "my backlogs have backlogs" note.

25) How many concerts did you see in 2021?

None - Rammstein this summer though

26) Did you have a favourite concert in 2021?

N/A

27) What was your favourite book of 2021?

I finally got hold of Roman Lives. The same person has a translation of Herodotus's Histories which I bought myself. I look forward to getting round to it. I've also been re-reading a lot of classic murder mysteries through Project Gutenberg.

28) Did you drink a lot of alcohol in 2021?

Not that much. I really am a social drinker and there has been little socialising.

29) Did you do a lot of drugs in 2021?

No.

30) How many people did you sleep with in 2021?

0

31) Did you do anything you are ashamed of this year?

I may have thought or said mean things about people who didn't really deserve it. Acts of carelessness rather than malice.

32) What was the worst lie someone told you in 2021?

"This wording/format/content is acceptable"; 3 months later "this wording/format/content is unacceptable".

33) Did you treat somebody badly in 2021?

I don't think so.

34) Did somebody treat you badly in 2021?

Again, I don't think so.

35) How much money did you spend in 2021?

Enough, with saving enough for other plans (mwahahaha) - basically, I will buy, in the next few years, in order, leasehold (mid way through process), new mattress, new/reupholstered sofa, bedroom plastering, kitchen plastering, replacement windows.

36) What was your proudest moment of 2021?

That silver medal at the President's Cup took work. I have been basking in work-related praise also.

37) If you could go back in time to any moment of 2021 and change something, what would it be?

Prevent some of the acts of carelessness.

38) What are your plans for 2021?

Mostly based on fixing the flat. In terms of fun and adventure, Rammstein and the Commonwealth Games.

11 fics, so not quite at 12 but an acceptable number, even if half of them are 3 sentence fics. (It's 12 with Yuletide treat I wrote - someone's prompts went to pinch hit and they were another RoGro fan and well, we all <3 RoGro).

My favourite story this year:
My best story this year:

Normally I split these out, with my favourite being the one I like the most, and best being the one with the most hits on AO3. Only this year the one with the most hits is "For My Wings I've Been Searching" and I think that's probably my favourite too.

Story most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion: People not even saying thanks for 3 sentence fills, I see you.

Most fun story: The Cat of the Baskervilles. Okay, it's only a 3 sentence fic but it's episode-type holodeck hijinks and Spot's care programme and the holodeck mystery writing programme have crossed wires and ... there is a reason I will write an expansion.

Most sexy story:
Story with single sexiest moment:

You will notice the lack of sexy. I really am a gen writer who occasionally writes not-gen.

Hardest story to write: This year's wave really were relatively easy to write. Most of them started to be worked on when I cleared the backlog and filed other things into my "Never Going to Finish" folder, and zipped along at a relatively quick pace.

"Holy crap, that's *wrong*, even for you" story: There has been no wrong. I have been good. Even the split-personality (and violence of the Abyss parts of the personality) in "Two Brothers" is from canon. (I still say that the fact that there was no point when I didn't believe in Joseph Park as a separate person was some excellent acting from Abyss, not sure how he was so good at making it look like Joseph Park Esq had never seen the inside of a ring before).

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: None really, I think they're all very set characters, or music video fic so veering so close to original fic that there aren't any pre-existing characters to perceive.

Biggest disappointment: Yes, I know it's only 3 sentences which makes things difficult but "The Subtle Crunch" just doesn't work.

Biggest surprise: I don't think there were any.

Most unintentionally telling story: Hi "After the Funerals" and welcome to my rage about Uncle L's funeral. So Uncle L was actually my great uncle and the generation up from me (and the one remaining person other than him from the generation above that) were not particularly fond of him. He may have been all the things they accused him of being, but he was never any of them in my presence. I will always remember how kind and welcoming he was to little foreign me when I was small.

Now much though I loved him, he was not any of the nice things the priest at his funeral made him sound like. It was everything from the description of his personality to his name. He never used *that* version of his name. No one since his own mother died had used that version of his name. In the priest's defence, he was a hospital priest working on very little info so pretty much had to vague it up, and went with bland, featureless hagiography. However, you can imagine, not at my most rational at the funeral itself.

All of that is in "After the Funerals".
