Good Omens

You know how I was the only person not hyped for Deadpool. I feel like I'm the only person not hyped for Good Omens. Because I think the leads are horribly mis-cast and I've seen the costume photos and think they look horribly, horribly wrong too.

I will do most of my Eeyoring in private :) but I had an urge to shout this at the universe just once.

No, I've seen a lot of people not hyped for Good Omens. Not just for casting reasons, but primarily those at the moment. I usually like adaptations of Gaiman's work so I am in a wait-and-see pattern, but I wouldn't say "hyped".

I'm glad it's not just me. I mean, I know I'm impossible, and the only way you could get the actual casting I see in my head involves a time machine and cloning an early-middle-aged Michael Palin but ... I'm so glad it's not just me.

I don't usually have a set face in mind for characters, so I was quite surprised to have a visceral HELL NO reaction to Michael Sheen in his Aziraphale costume. It's so wrong and fuddy-duddy looking.

I'm not as off-put by David Tennant, because I think Crowley's a bit of a face changer? But not Aziraphale omg. Hopefully it looks better on screen.

I think that's part of my problem. It looks like it will be such a dutiful adaptation, with all the problems therein inherent.

I think part of the problem is that, for me, Pratchett is one of those writers where I do get visuals, or, and this might be the problem, not so much visuals as tangibles. So, despite the fact I am alone in this head canon, there is no way that Shadwell is going to have a Cumbrian accent (I will accept Northumbrian or Lowland Scots at a push) and it will be all wrong, and not be anyone's fault.
