Captain America movies (apparently I tl;dr)
Date: 2015-07-18 11:00 pm (UTC)Runner-up: I am cool with Steve/Natasha (apparently, the only person I don't ship her with is the person canon ships her with) and Steve/Sam.
Honorable mention(s) + Crack pairing(s): Entirely one-sided Howard Stark/Steve, and it's not that Howard doesn't love his wife, but he keeps vanishing off hunting for Steve's body because Steve deserves a decent burial, and Tony just doesn't get why and gets really annoyed that his father keeps vanishing (and I swear it plays into why he and Steve bicker constantly).
Meanwhile, Howard is pissed off at the opportunities Tony is wasting because he knew this kid from Brooklyn who had no opportunities and saved the world and how dare Tony not at least try and ...
It's actually a Howard and Tony and dear god, why don't the Stark boys ever talk about their feelings fic but the Howard <3's Tony is part of it. (Also, my filmverse fanon for Howard Stark is that he is at most 2nd generation American and that Stark is an Anglicisation of something like Starchelli or Starski or Starkevski and there's a lot of 'bootstraps' on his part and, like I said, why the two of them can't talk sometimes ...)
Part of the problem is that a lot of the Captain America fic I want to write is gen fic about the Howling Commandos and Peggy. Or gen fic about the rematch between Batroc and Steve and I have pages of notes on that because apparently, I am easy to please if you get George St. Pierre to kick people in your films.
Ship everyone else seems to like, but I don't: Bucky and Steve, and it's the old problem of 'but they're each other's best friends' and I want to draw stars and hearts round them for that because it's obvious that they love each other, because otherwise *that* scene towards the end where Steve looks at Bucky and you can see him going 'I have to kill him to save the world and I will do it because it's what Bucky would have wanted; I don't want to but I will because it is the right thing to do' wouldn't work the way it does.
I think this is a me problem not a pairing problem.
