Which was pretty much my Twitter summary of the first episode of season 3. Which succeeded in it's mission of making me shout at the TV. Repeatedly.
Revenge did it's usual thing of both hitting the reset button and dealing with the consequences of the last season at the same time. It's a very peculiar show. Although I'm liking the yearly pattern of New York scenes to set up Hampton chaos.
I do like that everyone is carrying damage from the past two years and no-one is who they started out being. Especially Jack. Who is doing things that are understandable, and may even be the right thing to do, in fact I suspect they probably are, but are only going to lead to disaster. Then again I suspect it's all going to end in disaster anyway.
Nolan and Charlotte have come back understandably changed by their experiences, and I wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of either of them now.
And I thought the scenes of Charlotte with her Dad were adorable. It's really odd, because we know that Conrad is evil, through and through, but him + Charlotte is always adorable, because she really is his little princess. I've often thought that the only mis-step they made with Conrad was when he exiled Charlotte when her parentage was revealed back in season 1. Because he wouldn't do that.
Which brings me to an interesting point. Conrad is the evil one, that's quite clear. Victoria is just trying to keep what is hers, and to protect that which could be her childrens's, and is given the interesting backstory, and the reasons for her behaviour, but she's still very much the main villain, while Conrad just lurks evilly in the background and has a much better relationship with his children (unless he and Daniel aren't speaking to each other, again).
Not that Emily is above doing really quite mean and downright horrible things (but which is also kind of why we love her). Because the Huntington's thing is borderline evil.
Actually between that, Jack's ultimatum (see previous re: probably right but will end in disaster) and the thing at the start (the now traditional time-jump), I'm actually kind of worried that this might be the last series. Or rather, I'm not worried by that, I'm just worried that it may not end happily for Emily. And I want it to, because I like Emily in all her ruthlessness.
As an addition to the above - dear Aiden, you'd better be part of an Emily- planned, sponsored and agreed to plan, otherwise you and I will have to have words.
