If I'm looking into a subject, I tend to go for older references, because they explain the things that more modern references take for granted. I needed to read up on stats for work so I went charity shop book hunting for a statistics reference work and found this.

I got very lucky. It's a very well laid out book, where the sections make sense, and the examples are well chosen. Because it was written before very powerful personal calculators, it takes the reader through how to do the stats by hand which is very useful for me.

Highly recommended.
