Much though I love this week's person, Zoe Morgan, I know too much about clinical trials to suspend my disbelief. Yeah, FDA approval of a drug with a trial size of 200, that's plausible. Not. Try at least 10 times that number, more like 20-50 times that size (not counting a control population of equal size), for something that deals with a non-lethal condition. It's a tiny detail, but an important one.

TNA Spin Cycle
The four for this and the previous week are James Storm, Sting, Austin Aries and Kurt Angle, who talk far too much sense on the topic of social media. And I keep forgetting how adorable Kurt Angle is when he's not being Kurt Angle. You know what I mean. And how much Sting and Steve Borden are v. different. I think it's because with the others (and a lot of other wrestlers) their gimmick is them turned up to 11 whereas Sting and not Sting are very different.
Actually, Xplosion also had a Chavo Guerrero interview which was adorable. (Why was Chavo never ruler of the world, or at least, the X/Lightheavyweight/Cruiserweight division?)
Xplosion was a step-up from Impact. Nothing against the wrestling (seriously, it gave me Chavo vs Daniels, life is good. But it was far too short.), but it was a little lacking in go forward. Lacking to the point that I did tidying up/packing rather than concentrate on it, and you all know how little I enjoy tidying and packing.

Fic thinking
I'm having a lot of fun playing around with the AUs for that last meme, particularly the Matriarchal Marvelverse for
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
So I had an idea of a scene for Bruce (about which I shall talk no more until I have finished it), and I was thinking about the knock on effects on the other Avengers.
I was thinking about Thor, and also that that scene in the Avengers had Nick Fury calling Coulson one of his ravens, where I have to assume it was a definite call-back to Odin. And I thought, well, if Odin is the all-father, it would make sense for this matriarchal universe to have an all-mother, because if we can have creation myths where the galaxy is due to a god's ejaculate, we can most definitely have one were the all-mother gives birth to the universe. And it would make sense that she'd be married to the god of wisdom (and we have prior for the less-empowered gender getting the god of wisdom in Athena).
It'd give a different slant to the universe, because it's a lot harder to fake matrilineal heritage so marriage becomes less of a thing (there's research to suggest that marriage became a thing only once property was a thing, and the person with property wanted to make sure that his property went to his heirs).
I assume that a matriarchal culture would have the sense to use men when it was advantageous (for things like heavy lifting and opening of jam jars). Admittedly, I'm assuming that because it would mean I don't have to gender-swap any of the characters (well, except the now Warriors Four and the Howling Commandos).
That and it would play wonderfully in to the films as they stand:
1 - Frigg is unfortunate in that she's got two boys. Loki still feels aggrieved that Thor is going to get everything especially given that Thor can't shape-shift, not like Loki can. Loki could be a woman, if someone gave him reason to be. Frigg would say that's not the point.
2 - The Red Skull tries the unperfected formula because he feels he's lacking in advancement because he's only a woman.
Steve, after (Stanley Tucci's charater)'s death, is still the US poster boy, because, hey, our troops in the field need a bit of eye-candy. I quite like the idea of his backing dancers being women who'd been F'd out of joining and were doing their bit this way.
3 - The issues Howard Stark would have anyway (wastrel son not doing things with his god-given talent, given all the other advantages he was born with when Howard pulled himself up by his own boot-straps) would probably not be helped by his son being a son, and the whole thing of 'I worked hard to get where I am despite my gender, and you're just showing that the jokes about men being flakes are true'.
But yes, as you might be able to tell, this is the 'verse that ate my brain.

Date: 2012-09-21 06:46 pm (UTC)I must also check - you have now seen all of Revenge? Because I think there are going to be some technical spoilers for Nolan and possibly some for Emily and Victoria (though those I think you would have gotten already). But Nolan.
Also I am very regretful that when my computer went weird a bit ago, I lost a Revenge story involving Nolan masturbating. Am trying to recreate.

Date: 2012-09-24 02:33 pm (UTC)We're up to episode 18 in the UK, so Jack is now suspected of Tyler's murder, apparently there's 5 episodes left.
I look forward to the recreation attempts. One day, computers will know not to do that when we write fic.
