No disrespect intended to anyone who ships the pairings I don't.

Six ships you're into right now

1. Fai/Kurogane
2. Crimson/Matt Morgan
3. Black Widow/Hawkeye
4. Charles Xavier/Erik Lensherr
5. Moriarty/Moran (from the RDJ Holmes)
6. Sherlock/John (Sherlock version - only not / more John is Sherlock's most important person, for whatever value that Sherlock is capable of. Not that I have excessive numbers of WIPs on this topic, more or less.)

Three ships you liked, but don’t like anymore

7. Phil Coulson/Pepper Potts
8. Jack Harkness/Toshiko Sato
9. Cap/Tony Stark, but only in the movieverse

Four ships you never liked

10. George Smiley/Peter Guillam
11. Matt Hardy/Jeff Hardy
12. Mycroft/Lestrade
13. Thor/Loki

Two ships you're curious about, but don’t actually ship

14. Mystique/Angel
15. Mystique/Azazel

(Um, those last two might tell you which character I'm writing a lot of at the moment)

Why do you dislike #11 so much? I think it's mostly just that I don't like incest pairings. See also one of my other choices.

Who is someone you know that ships #14? No one that I know of but feel free to shout if you do.

What would be your ideal scenario for couple #3? Post-Avengers hurt/comfort fic, but the problem is that I know this is going to be a pairing I'll be horribly picky about because I have such a ridiculous number of feelings about them, because of how Natasha was all 'Barton is important to me but saving the world is more important' and they have their own internal language between each other and they're so obviously each other's most important person but the job comes first. And flail!!

Which is your favorite moment for couple #1? There's the obvious two that I've mentioned in the past:
1) When they're in the country of Oto, hunting down oni (random monsters) and Kurogane and Fai have gone to find out more information. One attacks and, because he won't defend himself, Fai gets injured. This leads to Kurogane's berzerk button being triggered and the fight being won. They have a whole conversation about Fai refusing to be active in his own defence and generally being passive as all get out, and Fai has this heartbreaking smile on his face while he admits his faults, after Kurogane says that that's the one thing he can't stand in people.

2) 7 books later, Fai has started to use magic to defend and help the rest of them, which he said he never would, and Kurogane calls him on it. Now, the scanlation I was going to use to demonstrate this had the last part rendered as 'I don't care about your past', which while it is shippy as all get out is lacking a certain Kurogane-ness. The official translation has it as 'shape up and figure out where you stand'. And that's what I love about them, because quite often they're the only grown-ups in the vicinity so they don't give each other an inch.

To these I would like to add the rather wonderful panel where after spoilery thing has happened, and Fai is bleeding to death and he's refusing to do anything about it, and Kurogane grabs him and says (some paraphrasing because I don't have my copy to hand) "you will live. If you want to die, tell me and I'll kill you myself." Which as declarations of love go, is a little odd, I grant but ...

Then again, in order to save Fai's life, Kurogane turns himself into the only person a vampirised Fai can feed off, and then cuts his arm off to save Fai's life later.

How long have you been following couple #6? I think it's that probably since the bit in Study In Pink where Watson, having known Sherlock for ~ 24 hours immediately defends him to the police. Oh Watson!

What's the story with #8? Season 2 happened. It's not that I don't still like the pairing, it's just that it's been somewhat superceded by canon.

You have the power to make one ship non existent. Choose from #10 or #12. Either, I've got the same problem with both of them, which is I don't get it. The why is beyond me. That and with Smiley/Guillam I have this urge to shout about Guillam being an underling and it being wrong.

Which ship do you prefer #2 or #4? Xavier/Magneto, I think I've understood they were each others's most important person since before I knew what shipping was. I blame/thank the cartoon.

What interests you about #15? The minute I saw Azazel I went 'hello Nightcrawler's dad' because well, I refuse to believe that they didn't use him deliberately, which leads to some interesting thoughts as to why. And just yes, the only other mutant we see that's always been obviously a mutant, and there has to be some sort of fellow feeling there.

Why did you stop liking #7? Iron Man 2 happened. Which I still haven't seen but - waves tiny Tony/Pepper flag.

Did your waning interest in #9 kill your interest in the show? Not really, again it was just superseded by canon, mostly that well *waves tiny Pepper/Tony flay* and it might well be unsuperseded once we get the cut scenes that Joss Whedon has promised us.

What’s a song that reminds you of #5? Not really, but 'You and Me Versus The World' by Space works. Sadly I don't know Schubert well enough to comment further.

If you could have any of these two pairings double-date, who would it be? I think it'd be an almighty disaster whichever it was because well, in between the telepaths and the genocidal maniacs they love, Black Widow and Sherlock trying to analyse each other, and Sherlock and his worst enemy even if it's from different versions, I see no way of it not ending messily.

Have #2 kissed yet? Well Crimson has blown kisses at Matt Morgan to annoy him, and they do the aggressive nose to nose thing so beloved of the testosterone overdose that is wrestling.

Did #4 have a happy ending? Shall we end that with simple no. Rather than discuss that messy tragedy futher.

What would make you start shipping #14? I think the incredibly shallow comment of two pretty Brotherhood of Mutant members that are the only ones of more or less the same age that have bonded previously.

If only one could happen, which would you prefer #2 or #6? 6, as long as it's done properly.

You have the power to decide the fate of #10. What happens to them?

We already know what happens to them. But yes, people to read the books or to realise exactly how creepy boss/underling is, unless they're willing to deal with that creepiness. I have no problem with fics that do point out why boss/subordinate is a bad idea.

Which do you dislike the most? I don't like any of them particularly much.

Which of these ships do you love the most? Right now, 1, 5 or 6.

The jubilee, whatever my own personal views* appears to have gone off well. Also, I believe, that political commentators, both on the left and chunks of the right, over-estimate the general public's dislike of Prince Charles. He might be a nimwit, but he's generally viewed as mostly harmless. Also, and this might just be my generation, if I wanted to make sure that people didn't vote to get rid of the monarchy, all I'd have to say would be, "imagine the other option, how would you feel about President Blair?" People really underestimate the dislike most people have for today's politicians.

And of course, there was Handel, Holst and Elgar. And Beethoven. I make no comment about the last.

* I am, needless to say, a republican (in the monarchic sense)

I thought the ITV Euro2012 build up thing was good, if silly (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jt_xRVSCztM). The BBC one is better (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTlf59c_wlU&feature=related). It makes me want to go storm castles.

Shakespeare Meme - Day 22 - Underrated Play

True story time.

So the RSC do a cheap ticket for students thing, and after the wonderful Stu volunteered to drive (because trains to Stratford at the weekend from Leicester are terrible), I thought game on. So I looked for tickets, and the only play on at the right time with student tickets left was 'Coriolanus'. I knew the name of the play, but that was about all that I knew about it. It wasn't one of the big hitters, it wasn't even in the second rank. It might not lurk in quite as much confusion as the Two Noble Gentlemen Kinsmen of Verona (yes, I know neither play is called that but I still get them horribly confused) but not one I'd ever considered watching.

I wavered a little on whether or not to buy some tickets. In the end I decided yes, because I didn't know when the next time I'd be able to see the RSC do anything would be.

And I'm really glad I did because I loved Coriolanus. Both the play and the character. One day I will get round to watching the Ralph Fiennes version to see if it is the character himself or if it was just the version that I saw first that I loved quite so much but he's so ...

Well he's fine as long as you give him an army and a battle to fight, it's after that where it all goes horribly wrong. He's a man who keeps getting pushed into positions he's terrible for/at by advisors and his somewhat all-powerful, utterly terrifying, she-who-will-be-obeyed mother (who is all these things and still loves him and only wants the best for him). And no, I don't over-identify at all :P

It's very much one of those plays where you find yourself wanting to yell 'no, don't do that' at the main character. It doesn't help, he keeps doing that, the rolling stone of Roman tragedy stopping for no-one.

I really don't get why it isn't better known and better loved.
