Mar. 19th, 2003 08:35 pmApparently Turkey are allowing Allied planes to fly through their airspace, but not land or have ground troop movements. Good for them, they get the money the US promised them for airspace and still tried to keep the Turkish populace happy. Dear Tony, these guys are a decent government.
Oh and before I get, 'but they are a Muslim influenced party,' dude, Blair is a closet Anglo-Catholic and Bush is a methodist (more on that later) and both of them are talking about morals. How is that different?
The Austrian government meanwhile aren't giving the Allies the right to fly through Austrian airspace. Good on them. Of course, they have absolutely no way of making this happen. Like Die Presse said, the Austrian air force is barely existant.
The thing with Die Presse is that whatever happens they think it's wrong. Even if the government did exactly what the editorial wanted, they'd still find reason to complain. I love that paper dearly.
Found out on the news that Bush is a devout Methodist. Pah! Methodists are supposed to be pacifists. (In case anyone's wondering, the Proddie end of the family are Presbetyrians or United Reformers so we know a little about Methodists.)
And oh yeah, that cut means you can't yell at me for promoting my bullshit, because I put a warning on it.

Date: 2003-03-19 02:45 pm (UTC)What, someone's ignoring his nominal religious beliefs for his own agenda? I'm so shocked!

Yes, but Bush and Co does still have to respect the decisions of other countries.

Date: 2003-03-19 03:57 pm (UTC)Normally I wouldn't be but they'd just been doing a bit on the news "How President Bush is coping" and it was saying how devout he was. The entire family were in uproar.
And true they do have to respect that choice. I amazed that the Austrian government is sticking up for itself.
