Fic Writing and Hardcore Justice 2011

redfiona99Oh X-men First Class fic, one day you will be finished to my satisfaction. I know what the problem is - why, oh why am I writing Xavier-centric fic? I can write him later on (X1-3), when he's become more guarded and hardened, but First Class Charles, he's all, well I don't want to say soft because the squishiness is the source of his strength (Eric, because he's all sharp and go forward, can be deflected, Charles just marshmallows past problems). And it's almost impossible to write because it's all clouds and wisps and, pray tell, short of the occasional, unspeakble OCC, ten paragraph long excursion into the exact blue of James McAvoy's eyes (very, very, like the sea off Connemara), and the way he glows with happiness and sadness, and that I have no idea how other character's can hurt Xavier because while I might want to shake him by the shoulders, it's like kicking a puppy. A particularly boisterous puppy, given to bad pick up lines.

Why do I always forget that TNA PPVs have taken a turn for the terrible? I mean, they managed to have a match I should be all over (Shelley vs Spandrick vs Austin Aries) and I was bored by it. Nothing against the three of them, all of whom I still love and I loved their (Kendrick and Aries) little promoette afterwards. And their promo with Shelley on the Impact before, but the match was pretty bad.
A lot of the problem are not the wrestlers involved faults and I think I'd be a lot more into the Bound For Glory rankings thing if I'd been watching it from the beginning, but yeah, it didn't interest me.
And then, the match that made me realise that I hadn't been sympathetic enough to Opera's complaints about Preciouses vs Glumph matches because Kazarian/Daniels/AJ vs Steiner/Abyss/Gunnar had that written all over it. And yet it was fun. Mostly because I'm not convinced that a match with Kazarian, Daniels and Styles in could be bad, and because the glumphs in question aren't utterly glumphy. And they managed to get the story of what was going on over, even while I was watching with no sound (in the block of flats where I am living, the rule is no music/tv after 12) and no subtitles (damn it, Challenge TV). That, in my book, is good wrestling.
That being said, can we have a moratorium on Daniels going through a table at utterly the wrong angle style bumps because I was really worried that he'd actually broken something, to the point when the first thing I did when I got into work this morning was check that he was okay. And I don't think I was alone in that, judging by how worried Styles looked (no, really, first thing after the pin, he raced to check). So yeah, no more, please.
And then I stopped watching, mostly because the beginning of Kennedy vs Bully Ray made a minimum of sense without sound (although, three cheers for Bully Ray for enunciating clearly enough that I could lip read, much obliged, sir) and because, well, let's be honest, I forgot about Beer Money versus not-LAX, and I knew the title match was going to end in fuckwittery because TNA title matches always end in fuckwittery.
I checked the results, I might have been wrong, but I might have been right and I'm not staying up till 1.30 on a work night for that, when I suspect so strongly that it's going to happen.

Interestingly enough, I'm pretty okay with writing Charles. It's Erik POV that I have trouble with. I haven't had the occasion to write from his perspective yet, but I have some bunnies that are supposed to be from his eyes, and I have no idea how that'll go.
URGH at the Daniels thing. I hate matches like those, because it's always AJ or Daniels who does the sick bumps.

It's when you're halfway through a paragraph and you suddenly realise that there is no way that this is going into the final fic.
With Erik I am mostly chickening out because his mind at the best of times (probably the mutant finding road-trip or the training montage) is a dark place which I do not wish to explore at this juncture. Luckily, there are telepaths, who I can misuse to go either 'out of moral grounds, I am avoiding looking there' or 'yeah, no, not going there again'. That and most of what I'm writing is either Mystique-centric or Hank-centric which helps. Even if instead of the pronoun problem, I now have the problem of which blue person am I talking about.

I think the major problem is that, I get it was the big 'you are watching a PPV' bump (I don't think match needed it, but whatever), it was just so badly placed because they went off the corner of the ring so whoever was going backwards through the table always stood a higher risk. Unnecessary risks, TNA, are a bad thing.
