Dude, I think I just got dissed.

And I like it. Plus, she so obviously didn't read what I wrote. To fuck with her.
> I don't care why he walked out, or if he walked out. I have no
sympathy for wife beaters unless they got through at LEAST 18 months of weekly court-ordered treatment and are evaluated by a psychologist as redeemed.<<
But this would require a belief in psychology. Not wishing to diss, but I'm a non-believer.

I was disbelieving in psychology, not saying that wife-beating is good. I spit on domestic abusers.
You don't believe in helping wifebeaters stop beating their wives? Wow. You're cold.
I was about this far from saying, not just cold, but frigid as hell.
Then there was this
Alright folks,
I think it's time I skeedaddle on outta here. ;) As someone who has been in close contact with wife beating victims, it is far too disgusting to hear people write off what Austin did. A rant list? You're damn right it is. But if I stay any longer, it'll turn into a flame war, because I have no respect for people who condone wife beating, just like I have no respect for people who condone rape. It's the same thing, just with a fist and not ad*ck. If you're going to condone it, you might as well go hit Debra yourself.
However, this is hardly the only reason I'm leaving. I haven't watched wrestling in.. geez.. 3 months? I am afraid it has lost my interest. I have other obsessions, none of which anyone would like to hear about, and it's pretty well established I'm not liked on this list anyway. And when GG disagrees with me on something, I *know* it's time to go, because that rarely happens.
You can write me off as arrogant or whatever you like.. That's up to you. I can deal with wrestling dissing. I can deal with criticizing people I like. What I cannot deal with is writing off domestic abuse with the excuse that psychology doesn't work.
Let me tell you something. Psychology works, even if not in the way intended. Even if it tricks your brain into stopping whatever behavior you're supposed to be stopping, it WORKS. I have seen men stab their wives with knives for 5 years, go into a domestic violence group for 2 years, and not yet touch their wives again in a remotely brutal manner.
I really don't care what it is about treatment programs, whether the methods work or not. If you stop stabbing your wife after going through it, I don't give a damn WHY. You stopped. And if you read statistics on this, you would see that, for whatever reason, MANY MANY MEN AND WOMEN have ceased abusing their spouses after a treatment program. You want to call it crock? Fine by
me. But they're doing something in a treatment program they couldn't do for years before. If you still call that coincidence, I give up.
So I'm going to cut my losses and skip on out of here, no doubt leaving a "wow, what a stuck up bitch" impression on all of you. But I really don't care anymore. I don't want to listen to abuse condoning. If that means I'm remembered badly? So be it.
So, I bid thee all farewell, and if you want to reply, angrily no doubt, e-mail me personally, because as of 5 seconds from now.. I am offically unsubscribed.
So I did reply.

Want to know why I'm not a believer. I used to get beaten up. By my uncle. So did his kids. He went to see a shrink. Did it help, did it fuck. No it just got him deeper into debt. Which was why he got violent in the first place.
So I'm a disbeliever.
Let's see what tomorrow's email brings.

Date: 2003-02-24 02:12 pm (UTC)She's just as crazy as GG, just emotionalcrazy rather than fangirlcrazy. It's all a big stupid dirty bag of crazy. Her constant use of the "You are wrong because U R MEAN" argument really pisses me off.
