These were both actually really good. I enjoyed myself immensely. Mostly because they appeared to have hired child actors who could act, and writers who could not only write snappy plots, but also the parts for said child actors. The grown-ups aren't bad either.

I particularly liked Kelsy, even though I can see why other people didn't. She's just a wonderful example of a gobby teenager, and I'm old enough to see that as adorable rather than annoying.

I really liked the Bane, Samantha Bond and the Muffin especially. We decided that the Bane-form of them looked decidedly like green shield bugs.

There was no subtlety about the conversion pop, and it did seem a bit Demon Headmastery to me. [livejournal.com profile] nhw, if you're reading that, I highly recommend the Demon Headmaster for the purpose of entertaining and terrifying children, even if it did mean I was never able to stop calling Jack Straw the Demon Headmaster ever after.

Maria's Dad is lovely but her mother ... ach du liebe, she's horrid. A wonderfully done grotesque, but horrid nonetheless.

Luke was v. well done.

Revenge of the Slitheen

I found it very hard to dislike the Slitheen. I mean, I know they're evil, but they're such a warm cuddly evil.

I think I had an assembly like that once.

Juvenile Slitheen are adorable.

In future, trying harder to save the bad guys may well be required.

I really liked Clyde, not as much as Kelsy, but he will do as a replacement. Also, Luke and Sarah-Jane are adorable together.

I can see why people say it is the better of the spin-offs, and it certainly gives some of the episodes of the main show a good run for their money.

The Demon Headmaster is new to me, but certainly sounds worth experimenting with! Did you mean the books or the TV series? Or both?

I meant the TV series, although the books aren't bad. It's one of the few times where I think an adaptation has improved on the books.
