Doctor Who
Jul. 7th, 2008 03:50 pmUm you know that thing were you liked something but at the same time want to smack someone over the head. Yeah. That thing. RTD causes it sometimes. He's done it again.
Things I didn't like - Donna. Removal of her memories. While I understand the view of better alive than dead, I just have this phobia about losing my mind, so yes. Not a good thing.
The Doctor, and his Daddy knows best attitude re: the Osterhagen key and nine thousand other things in this episode. The removal of self-determinism (he acted for Donna, she didn't ask him to, in fact she begged him not to [see other squicky things], the removal of Jack's ability to time travel). Again, I'll admit a personal objection to being told what to do, by men in particular.

Things I am as yet undetermined about:
Doctor 10.5 and him getting Rose: 1) While I dislike 10 immensely on occasion, I have nothing against Tennant. In fact he's a solid actor and managed to portray 10 and 10.5 as two different people, to the point where I could have told them apart even without the colour-coding. May have preferred 10.5. Not sure how I feel about Rose and 10.5 hooking up (I loved that 10 didn't say anything, while 10.5 did even though he could have done). Hopefully this will result in the removal of the icky romance from my space opera.
Davros's grand plan to destroy the Doctor by making him face up to what he had created had one major problem, at least with the way it was presented - they hadn't actually done anything. There's a huge difference between a threat and actually doing something. Also, it's not like Jack wasn't already a weapon, and I wouldn't have got on the wrong side of Jackie for love nor money.

Things that made me variously incoherent:
Mickey (and Jackie)
Tosh saving the day post-death. And Ianto's almost reverence when talking about it.
Jack's method of escape. Mad, but it worked. And that wink.
Jack and Mickey. TW should be amusing next year.
The Liberian one of the Osterhagen key trio.
10.5 and the Doctordonna.
Jack not being able to say exactly what he was thinking when faced with that trio.
Mickey deciding to come back.
Wilf at the end. Bernard Cribbins may well have been the best thing about this season.
