Films and fic

I was really intrigued about the Oxford Murders film because I read the book and enjoyed it, but they seem to have decided to make it an ordinary thriller in the vein of the Da Vinci Code which makes me sad. Also they seem to have Elijah Wood playing a character who is an Argentine in the book - I am very confused by that.
On the fic front I'm re-writing the fic that's due in for the lgbt fest for the something like 5th time, and while I'm aware that at some points during the writing process I've thought all my fics are the worst thing I've ever written, it's a really strong feeling this time and I can't just do what I'd normally do which is dump it in the fic folder and wait for inspiration and the ability to fix it to strike because of the deadline. Oh the downsides of ficathons.
