First of all, totally not by me. This is byfileg who makes the prettiest icons. As to why Ravenclaw, it's an open secret that I'd be a Ravenpuff or a Huffleclaw, and since I like books I though I'd go with this one.
Also not by me. It's byoriginaldiva. The man on the icon is the wonderful Cowboy James Storm, at the time half of my favourite tag team America's Most Wanted. So it was partly that, partly that I wanted an icon to convey wrestling, particularly that I loved TNA at that time and, I'm sorry, how can I resist a quote like that. Of course, this has lead to me using this icon while I'm also cursing the Cowboy to high heaven, which is unfortunate.
Not by me either (there might be a theme here). It's byradioactivepie and is of Kurogane, who is my favourite character in a manga I'm addicted to called Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles. He's pretty close to being the most perfectly ideal hero character I've ever read (strong, brave, can use a sword, loyal, does not do angst even though he seriously has the right to). I adore him so he's being used for any and all animanga posts.
Actually by me. Which is unusual. This has been my default for about 6 years. It was made at the height of my thing for Lord of the Rings, and I wanted an icon that conveyed a character thinking and Elrond's picture was about the best one I could find. Add to that that Kezia who was on my deadjournal f-list (and is now on my lj f-list) was also an Elrond fan and it all seemed to fit.
Kurogane is my favourite character in Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, which is my favouritedrug manga at the minute. He's brave, noble, hot-tempered and just lovely. And a fellow manga-geek. Did I mention he has a sword? Again, I needed an icon and I found this one (it's by radioactivepie) and thought it was perfect.

Originally I had two, one was of Captain Jack, but this was during the first season where there were about three people on the entire internet who liked or even tolerated the slappable one (I love him dearly, but he will always be Owen the Slappable to me) so, as one of the three, I felt obliged to show my love.
