redfiona99I just remembered quite why I get so annoyed when people go on about the nuclear family being best. Uncle and Aunt have had huge row (away from family) and of course the kids (who have sensibly moved out) are still getting the worst of it.
Of course according to some people, aunt and uncle should stay together 'for the children'. Fuck that. Both of them would be way happier if their parents split up, and avoided each other for the rest of forever.
Me meanwhile, not the product of a nuclear family has, apart from aftershocks from the row, had a great christmas.
Of course, I should also be an idiot, because studies show that children who have been brought up in single parent families are on average stupider.
Which would of course explain my biology class (19 A* out of 23 people, 22 above A and the lowest (who never turned up to class) was a B)
Let's see
4 come from homes without one parent
3 were brought up mainly by one parent because the other was out working.
4 have tended to do their own thing because parents work long hours.
And those are only the people I know well enough to have those facts about.
By all these so called scientific studies we should have been dreadful. Instead, we're one of the best groups the biology department has ever seen.
