Dracula and Ski-Jumping

Mostly Dracula.
I taped it last night and watched it today. It was much better than expected. Not brilliant but good.
Most I wish to say how fantastic Marc Warren was as Dracula. His voice never raised above a whisper but I could make out every word, which is rare. And he was just so right. Much love.
Given how good this screwed up version was, I would have loved to see this lot make a proper, not-messing with the storyline version. I didn't like what they did with Arthur Holmwood, because, he really isn't that much of a bastard in the original.
Mina was well done, as was Dr. Seward. And I'm really pleased that there's finally a version where he gets to stake Dracula because he's much my favourite of Lucy's suitors in the book.
I'm not sure that I like what they did with Van Helsing, but I can't complain given that he got to be very brave. I object to them killing off Jonathan Harker, but that's probably just because he was nice and kind and generally sweet.
The set designers deserve serious bonuses because it looked very authentic.
But Dracula was the centrepiece of this, and he was so very good. Old and angry and dangerous. They remembered that Dracula is a monster who wants to take over the world, and this one could have done it.
He was so very, very good.
Onto ski-jumping - the 4 Hills is now on and eee! there's a baby Austrian doing very well. But, and this is amusing possibly only to me, the commentators were so right a couple of years ago when they said that Tommi Morgenstern was the new Andi Goldberger, because Schlisauer is the more likely to win, but damn it if I don't want Tommi to win more, even though there's nothing to chose between them.
There was also this lovely little snippet of them warming up together and they're so cute. Of the little furry animal variety.
