I now have evidence that slugs are stupider than spiders

I make a very simple deal with wildlife - don't bug me during waking hours and I shall leave you alone.

The spiders stick to this, it's very rare that I see a spider while I'm awake, and when I do it's normally 1-2 o'clock in the morning so I cut them some slack.

Therefore I was most annoyed to wake up (late) this morning to be greeted by a slug crawling along my dado rail, which is at about waist height. Other than being kind of wiggtastic on its own, I'm not scared of slugs but you know, its my bedroom, it means we have slugs, but that could be because of the damp.

So anyone with non-lethal slug repellant methods to suggest because, if not, I'm going to have to resort to killer repellents which I'd rather not do because well, I like to try and avoid killing things if possible.

Well... this is usually lethal, but a good way to get rid of slugs is to place small cups of beer on the floor. They're attracted to the sugar in the alcohol, and fall in and drown. Aside from this being lethal AND a waste of good beer, it does the trick. Perhaps you can devise some sort of trap that doesn't involve drowning? But the point is: slugs love beer. Use that as you will.
