Woodgate and Huth are great signings for Middlesborough, especially since they're in the middle of one of their injury crises. However, I want to know why in hell's name Liverpool want to sign Lucas Neill - he's not just a violent defender, he's a bad one too. See the penalty he gave away against Italy, you do not give Italian attackers an excuse to dive because they will.

In other defendery news (and how cool is it that I can have a transfer post all about defenders) Ayala to Real Madrid is bad, bad news. They don't need anymore good footballers. Ayala's another one of those players who I'd wish would win something one day.

1. One book that changed your life?

Umm. None really. I don't suppose the 'how things work' books my Mum bought me when I was little count, although they were probably the things that got me into science.

2. One book you have read more than once?

Stark by Ben Elton. There's lots more though. If I like a book I will re-read it.

3. One book you would want on a desert island?

Count of Monte Cristo or another Dumas, because they're thick and long and not boring.

4. One book that made you laugh?

The Mummy Case - Elizabeth Peters. There's an exchange about mummy cases that makes me laugh hysterically no matter how often I've read it.

5. One book that made you cry?

The novelisation of Return of the Jedi did. But that could have been hormones.

6. One book you wish had been written?

Someone somewhere will write a book about female scientists that doesn't harp on about sexual discrimination and will be accurate. Let me assure you, most seem to only be able to manage 1.

7. One book you wish had never had been written?

Tracy Beaker by Jacqueline Wilson. In fact anything by Jacqueline Wilson. It's drecky girly stuff that I was forced to read at primary school and I hated it. She was this hideous brat and we were supposed to feel sorry for her!

8. One book you are currently reading?

It's another re-read - Fly: an experimental life by Martin Brookes. Yes, I'm enough of a biology nerd to read books about Drosophila. Except it's really good, and you don't need to be a biology nerd to like it because it's got a readable style and good, well explained, science. If you ever come across a copy, read it.

9. One book you have been meaning to read?

Gormenghast. I know I always say it, but I've still not reached the end. The last go through got further than the others though, I got as far as spoiler

wetnurse/nanny dying

end spoiler

Keyboard or biro?

Keyboard mostly, but I'm getting back into writing with a pen (fountain in my case, not biro) but that's mostly because I'm back in love with fountain pens because I haven't used one in years and they make my handwriting look half way decent. Actually, better than half way.

Beta or no beta?

Not unless a challenge/ficathon demands it. I'm just wrong headed that way.

Plot?

Apparently they happen. I have to admit I write character vignettes and pieces rather than plot driven things but that's because wrestling doesn't really lend itself to plot driven things. HP doesn't either because well, there's already a plot, and I don't feel like changing, and I like sticking close to canon because it makes the characters easier to write. I also like things where there's more plot than character moments in the source so that means there's more room to write that sort of thing.

Title?

My least favourite part of writing a fic. They don't come easily to me.

Smushy or smutty?

I'm getting smuttier as I get older but I like writing smushy, light-hearted stuff.

Summary?

I dislike only slightly less than titles. It's finding something that says what the fic is about without actually saying everything there is to say about the fic.

Funniest fic?

Probably something like "Under the Bed" but most of my fics contain some element of humour in them because I like TV shows that do that, throw a funny moment or 3 in the middle of things because it sets things into contrast better.

Most popular fic?

Um, good question. I don't really know, I get about 3 or 4 replies on most of my fic so they all seem to be roughly equally liked. Though people seemed to really like fics where I pair up characters who although interacting in canon are a bit out of the way e.g. Hiding In Coffee Shops (Rikishi/Rico) or my Benoit/Jerico fics.

Most fun to write?

Handling the Outcome (Jindrak/Orton) - because it was really easy to write and fun.

Best and Worst?

Best:
The Annoying Things You Do (Benoit/Jericho). Well at least in my own opinion. It's one of the few I can read again I feel I got what I had in my head down on paper.

Worst:
My early stuff. It's the combo of not having a good handle on the characters and not knowing how to put down what was in my head onto paper.

Coulda been Contenders?
Some of my Evolution fic, particularly Reliance.

If you mean stories that didn’t quite live up to what I’d hoped they’d be, um... The Kisses Series. That was supposed to be a lot better than it was. I think I wimped out of a few things that I shouldn't have done.

Strengths
Characterisation. Dialogue. Gen fic.

Weaknesses
Smut, but I am trying to improve. Describing movements. My writing always seems a bit flat too.

Dirty Little Secrets?
Um, I don't know, I don't find a lot of the characters I write smut about hot. I wish there was a gen-fic equivalent of WWFSML, all gen fic all the time. I prefer writing gen-fic about TNA wrestlers. I want more femmeslash (wait, that's not a secret, that's a demand. Where is the femme-slash?) I keep wandering away from wrestling, but I find that other fandoms aren't as friendly, possibly I'm looking in the wrong places.

The novelization of Return of the Jedi got me weepy too.

I think one of your writing strengths is that you write the friendship aspect of relationships well. Your couples seem comfortable with each other, and the folks in your genfic have friendships that outdo love relationships.

Glad it's not just me :)

Thank you so much. That does mean so much to me because that's one of the things I aim for.
