Given that last night can be summarised with the line "A Quatari girl with an American accent, a half Indian/half Irish girl, a Chinese girl and me all walk into a bar".

No one said 'ouch' by the way ;)

It was fun.

Now for a meme.

1. Are you named after anyone? If so, explain.

Nope. My Mum decided that she thought the idea of family names was silly.

2. Do you have your children's names picked out already? If so, is there any significance?

I normally threaten to name any male children Stephen or Alexander, only unfortunately those are among the family names that my Mum desperately tried to avoid.

3. If you were born a member of the opposite sex what would your name have been?

Martin Michael Patrick or Michael Martin Patrick. I still hold out hope that Mum would have seen sense and gone with the second of the two options because I like Michael and don't like Martin.

4. If you could re-name yourself what name would you pick and why?

Nope, I like my real name.

5. Are there any mispronunciations/typos that people do with your name constantly?

My surname gets mispelled a lot because, along with it being strange and foreign, it's also the same sound as an actual word in German and a semi-famous TV person has the same surname. Unfortunately my surname is not spellt either of these ways.

But at least people are pronouncing it properly.

Amusingly I actually get Fiona quite a lot, the funniest being when my Biology teacher did it despite having taught me for four years. In his defence he had a similar looking girl in his other class called Fiona. I've also recently had Veronica, and in the past I've had Gloria. Unfortunately, my hearing is that bad that quite often I don't pick up that people are giving me the wrong name, and I normally don't care enough to correct them. I really will quite happily answer to most things. I have no idea why I'm nuts about my surname but really laid-back about my first name.

Also, do your ears a favour and come listen to what they've got up at the BBC Cambridge Folk Festival site. There's Seth Lakeman, Nickel Creek, Cerys Matthews, Richard and Teddy Thompson. They are all good.
