Has been announced.
Goalkeepers: Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus), Angelo Peruzzi (Lazio), Marco Amelia (Livorno)
Defenders: Cristian Zaccardo (Palermo), Alessandro Nesta (AC Milan), Fabio Cannavaro (Juventus), Gianluca Zambrotta (Juventus), Marco Materazzi (Inter Milan), Fabio Grosso (Palermo), Massimo Oddo (Lazio), Andrea Barzagli (Palermo).
Midfielders: Andrea Pirlo (AC Milan), Gennaro Gattuso (AC Milan), Daniele De Rossi (AS Roma), Mauro Camoranesi (Juventus), Simone Perrotta (AS Roma), Simone Barone (Palermo).
Forwards: Luca Toni (Fiorentina), Alessandro Del Piero (Juventus), Francesco Totti (AS Roma), Alberto Gilardino (AC Milan), Filippo Inzaghi (AC Milan), Vincenzo Iaquinta (Udinese).
Reserves: Morgan De Sanctis(Udinese), Daniele Bonera (Parma), Franco Semioli (Chievo Verona), Marco Marchionni (Parma).
Short version. Mostly expected goalies, defenders and midfield. Zambrotta has been put with the defenders and Gattuso with the midfield despite the fact that they play in the same bloody position (and the same way - seriously 9/10th of the reason that the Juve v Milan Champions League final was so wretched is that the two of them cancelled each other out). Either which way, if I had to face both of them on a pitch (though I doubt Lippi will go with that, though he might) I'd not be happy.
The real surprise is in the attackers - Toni, Del Piero, Totti, Gilardino, Iaquinta and Inzaghi .
Vieri and Cassano haven't been selected.
See this is why Lippi is a better manager than Erikson - he doesn't pick people everyone knows aren't going to be fit for the final. Not that Cassano is injured, he's just been stolen by Real Madrid and can therefore no longer play.
I should probably say something about the Spanish world cup team, except as everyone knows, I'm hoping they go out in the first round. Short explanation - the Spanish football team once beat Austria 9-0 in a qualifier. I have yet to forgive them.
I also really need a footie icon.
