redfiona99Because I've finally figured out a way of explaining the annoying uber-manic-ness. He's hiding something.
It finally twigged when he said the line about "I used to have such mercy." That's the real him, this quite deeply messed up Time Lord who's had it with most of existing life, because it keeps trying to hurt everyone else. And he knows that that's probably not a good place to be at if you are a reasonably powerful alien so he's got a cover character who's happy and bright, rather worryingly so, because he's over-compensating like woah!
It goes back to the virus/kill everything MacGuffin question - if you had the power to release a force that would kill everything, would you? 1-5 definitely wouldn't. 6 and 7 might pretend to but wouldn't. 8 wouldn't. 9 proved that he wouldn't, and don't I love him for it. 10 might. That's what makes him interesting.
Other than that, the fencing club is going to drive me mad, and I don't think that scampi agrees with my digestion.
