Sharpe's Challenge

The first half was broadcast on ITV yesterday, and I must say, mostly to Fileg who I know is buying it, that it's worth it.



Heavy spoilers

Because dear me, that cliffhanger is evil. They wouldn't kill Sgt. Harper though, now would they. Because it would kill Sharpe. Nevermind his women, who they kill off willy-nilly, and the Chosen men, who I'm still upset about, Sharpe would be dead in ten minutes without Harper.

And Harper just accepting that he's going to have to die for the mission to succeed and being all "shoot clean, Sharpe" and hail Mary.

Seriously, I'm not going to the quiz tonight so I can find out what happens.

Good work, the writers.



Now off to actually do work.

It's because it's Sean Bean. Sean Bean being Sharpe and *drools* I love Sharpe, on a normal 'That's an awesome show' level and on the totally shallow Sean-in-uniform level.

And damn right they can't kill Harper. It's Harper.

I keep trying to come up with a way of explaining that in words, rather than strange noises. I'm failing miserably, they can't kill Harper. It would be wrong.

Yay! Because I have seen a few grumbles about it on my list -- not that it would be a deal breaker for me if it was a stinker (after all, I own Sharpe's Gold!)

I can see why people might not have liked it, there were parts where it was quite abrupt and a couple of the secondary characters were very flat characters, but it had derrer doing and swash buckling and heroes, and I wither if I don't get my RDA of those so I was happy.
