The rest of Harry Potter

OMGWTF and indeed BBQ!
Just checking that I didn't get a screwy copy - did Snape just kill Dumbledore or am I imagining things?
Of course it would make sense of him being the Half-Blood Prince, because dear god that's exactly the sort of silly title I can imagine teen!Snape giving himself. And well done Rowling for muddying the waters and making me expect it to be Voldemort.
I'm left with one major question - who's side is Snape on? I ask only because Dumbledore doesn't tend to be soooo wrong, and because there was a certain amount of duress on Snape when he did kill Dumbledore, who I think was pretty much dead anyway (you know what I mean). So I don't think Snape's evil, mainly because it would make no sense from a story point of view.
Options, insofar as I can see them:
1 - Snape is evil, evil, evil.
2 - Snape is fulfilling some uber-order from Dumbledore to ensure Draco doesn't go totally evil.
3 - Snape is fulfilling some internal desire to prevent Draco going over to the evil side.
4 - Snape has some other motive, as yet unknown.
I personally tend towards a mixture of 2 and 3.
Also dashed if Rowling didn't make Draco understandable for the first time ever without nicening him. She's really written a good book this time.
More later, must go work.
