Kind of an up and down day
Sep. 3rd, 2003 11:28 pmFailed my driving test - again. But I didn't screw up the manouvres.
Had to have more passport photos taken, I swear Leicester Uni is in league with Max Spielman. That's the third set. And tomorrow I have to have some more taken. But at least it will be realistic because my hair is frightful.
Anyway, went to school to ask about a remark - still undecided on the issue. But on the way there I got to talk to John and on the way back Chris and his Mum gave me a lift and we ended up talking for like an hour outside of the house.
Now I am going to miss them terribly. I wish I could miss them because they were nice sweet kind people, but that's not it, I'll miss them because they're a bunch of sarcastic loonies with grudges. I love them to pieces.
To cheer myself up, I got the Evita score out of the library. However, it is not the complete score. I am liable to go ga-ga if I don't get a copy of it. Evita is probably my favourite Andrew Lloyd Webber musical. Because the music is it's usual cracking self, but for once there is a coherent plot and a decent libretto.
But I ended up chatting to the librarian as well.
I also read through the comics - sorry, the graphic novels - section. Witchblade the comic is not as good as the TV series. There was an Anne Rice one. Trouble was that the way they drew the Body Thief looked exactly how I'd picture Armand.
Actually, there was an Anne Rice essay at the back and she descirbed Armand as having auburn hair which is a far cry from the dark hair he has in The Vampire Lestat.
(Trust me, I have dark hair, and the only way it goes auburn is if I'm out in intense sunlight every day for a a couple of weeks)
Anyway, I skim read that, and then I mpicked up an X-men one. Bishop's first solitary mission. And, of course, on the front cover he's got a big boot right across Gambit's back. Quite what the crazy Cajun did this time is beyond me because I've only got to the fourth page, but so far I'm really digging Bishop's two companions.
Anyway, I ended up watching the news (bad idea, lots of bad stuff going on, lots of governmental/military/anti abortion idiocy) and then the end of 'The Full Monty'. Which is still a cute little film.
Nan and I love it, Mum hates it. We think it's because it's too lowbrow for hair, although she has said she prefers it in French. Actually, it does work in French (it's a long, long story)
But yes, other than being all-round cool, it's the only film with a gay kiss that my Nan doesn't complain about. See, the impossible is possible.
(Plus I've just figured out how to do that strike-through font thing on here so I'm all wheee)
