You know sometimes I worry about me. I didn't like the Patriot but I did like this bunch of equally idiotic mess. But then again it did have like half of my favourite actors list in it somewhere along the line.

Seriously, did someone just round up every actor who has ever been in a film like this and stick them on.

Oh and I must remember not to get Robert Davi and Andrew Davidoff confused with each other, no matter how similar they look and the fact that they both always play swarthy, trigger happy bad guys.

Dean Stockwell was in there as well. Yipee! (Sorry) Actually, it was quite funny, because he was being all pragmatic about what was going on and my Nan was accusing him of being in league with the bad guys.

Oh and if the film expects me to use character names rather than actors names, then they should make the names clearer.

Wolfgang Petersen did a very good job despite the crudy script. Plus, I can't see any other director making the bad guys quite as reasonably unreasonable as this. And before anyone says anything, yes, the bad guys were evil, wicked, naughty. But they were idealists and there's nothing more dangerous than an idealist.

Serious spoilers for ending lie here within )

I'm not saying it was perfect or anything. There were whole gaps in logic that defied every rule of storytelling like, given how much of the first half was spent saying how undamagable Air Force One was it did seem to damage rather easily at the end.

But yeah, it was good.

One thing of which I am now firmly convinced however is that, even though he looks nothing like how I imagined Sirius Black, Gary Oldman should do a bang up job of it.

On top of Gary Oldman looking nothing like how I imagined Sirius Black, neither Timothy Spall (Wormtail) nor David Thewlis (Lupin) are like what I imagined the characters to look like.

It's quite odd, I like all three actors but I fear oddness. Especially in the case of David Thewlis who I really do like far too much, but he has a thick Yorkshire (even worse Bradford) accent, worse than Sean Bean's, and isn't like the soft spoken Remus I have a picture of.

So I sense I shall be forced to do as I do with Sherlock Holmes and watch and complain and stick to the pictures in my head. Which is a shame since the Snape & Malfoy/Marauders are most of my favourite parts in the last two books.

And I really will scream if they take out Lee Jordan's commentary this time, because his commentary about Slytherin v Gryffindor in the 3rd book is my favourite part of the books full stop.

On a Sirius note, are we ever told if he really was in Gryffindor, or does he fit into the 'all bad wizards are from Slytherin' pattern that Hagrid described?

I fear I have a plot bunny relating to this problem.

The first part of the third story in the 'Baci di amore e l'odio' series is now up.

And next time I'm writing something with titles in German, at least I can understand that.

First I'd like to thank Twig for telling me that Aiden Gillen was in this so I went and watched it and had a ball. Although large chunks of this were due to me being with my friend Sally, who is my bestest friend ever.

And all these people who are complaining about factual inaccuracies should get over it. It's a comedy, not serious, of the fun. Plus how can I not love a film that ends with 'All Day and All of the Night'.

Plus there was a pillow-fight.

I mean, the only thing I didn't like about it is the books being used as weapons. But like I said, it was fun.

And the stunts were rather wow. Really. I mean the footwork and accuracy involved. Wow. Especially the sword fight. For those of you wondering I was brought up on action films, particularly historical ones so I much prefer a good hand-to-hand battle, or sword fight to the all-guns blazing things seen in a lot of recent Hollywood actioneers.

And they either had some of the best, as in most like the person they are covering for, stunt doubles or someone really trained the actors well. And yes I do know that Jackie Chan does all his own stunts.

So now to rewatch Lorna Doone which has Aiden Gillen as Carver Doone. Nothing like the character in the book yet I find it easy to forgive this, especially since everyone else is pretty much spot on.

There was one really funny comment about this adaptation, and Carver Doone in it, some angry dude wrote in and said 'In the books, Carver Doone did not mince around.' It was bizzaro comment, but slightly understandable.
