There are no words for quite how wrong it is but I shall try,

My remarks are in italics and the musicals I like are in bold.

100. Let's Make Love (1960)
99. Miss Saigon
98. Bright Eyes (1934)
97. The Cotton Club (1984)
96. Lullaby Of Broadway (1951)
95. Breaking Glass (1980)I'd love to see this, if only because of Hazel O'Connor, who I am gaga over.

94. Sholay (1975)
93. How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (1967)
92. The Umbrellas Of Cherbourg (1964)
91. Everyone Says I Love You (1996)
90. Cry Baby (1990)
89. A Little Night Music (1977)
88. For Me And My Gal (1942)
87. Million Dollar Mermaid (1952)
86. There's No Business Like Show Business (1954)
85. Funny Face (1957)
84. Ziegfeld Follies (1946)
83. A Star Is Born (Barbra Streisand) (1976)
82. Anything Goes
81. Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942)I am well aware this is patriotic propaganda fodder. However it is also rather fantastic. Plus, it has James Cagney singing and dancing, what more do you want?

80. Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
79. All that Jazz (1979)
78. Hedwig And The Angry Inch (2001)
77. Porgy And Bess (1959) I love it. The music, the singing, the acting. Trouble is it's an opera, not a musical.

76. Dancer in the Dark (2000)
75. Dil Se (1998) A musical in which the lead female character is a terrorist. Bollywood, got to love it. Plus the main track is the catchiest thing ever.

74. Shall We Dance? (1937)
73. Half A Sixpence (1967)More commonly referred to as the most boring film ever.

72. Godspell (1973) You should have seen the footage of Jeremy Irons in this. LOL

71. Show Boat (1951)
70. Gigi (1958)I like what I've seen of this

69. The Producers (1968)
68. Kiss Me Kate (1953)
67. Doctor Dolittle (1967)What on Earth is this film doing so low on the list. It's fantastic. So many good tunes. Plus non-sickly romance. And Rex Harrison. And Polynesia. Plus the scene in the courtroom. And William Shakespeare V. The songs aren't half bad either.

66. Gypsy (1962)
65. The Jazz Singer (1927)
64. Easter Parade (1948)
63. Jailhouse Rock (1957) I watched this when I was very small. In German. Elvis talks better in German ;) It's actually quite a dark, miserable little film. But good.

62. Sweet Charity (1969)
61. Scrooge (1970) This is awful.

60. Top Hat (1935)
59. Funny Girl (1968)
58. An American In Paris (1951)
57. Paint Your Wagon (1969) I blame this film for leading to my family singing 'I was born under a wandering star'. The trouble being we can hold a tune about as well as Lee Marvin can. The pain!

56. Meet me in St Louis (1944)
55. Hair (1979)What I've heard of it, I've liked.

54. On The Town (1949)
53. Cinderella (1950)
52. Carmen Jones Admittedly, I'd put this under opera too, but gah it's so good, well the songs are, I have to admit I've never seen the film.

51. Thoroughly Modern Millie (1967)
50. Hello Dolly (1969)
49. Muppets Take Manhattan (1984)
48. Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953)Nothing to do with anything but Jane Russell was far better looking than Marilyn Monroe, and is still fantastic looking today.

47. Summer Holiday (1963)I'm sensing any non-Brits on the list have no idea what this is. I imagine it's one of those things that wouldn't cross over.

46. A Chorus Line (1985)
45. A Star Is Born (Judy Garland) (1954)
44. Tommy (1975)The craziest film ever filmed.

43. Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs (1937)
42. Starlight Express

41. Carousel (1956) - I'm taking this out of the cut because this is a cool story. Liverpool FC's fans use 'You'll Never Walk Alone' as their song. Bill Kenwright is a theatre producer, and also Everton's (Liverpool's arch-rivals) chairman. And when asked about this he said that even if you're a die-hard Evertonian, if you watch the end of this with the song and the pictures and you don't feel something, then there's something not quite right about you.

40. 8 Mile (2002)It's not a musical, damnit

39. South Pacific (1958)I like the songs, I'm just not that fond of it.

38. The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
37. White Christmas (1954) Please excuse me while I curse. What on Earth is this doing at 37. There are not 37 better musicals on this planet. It's such a warm, sweet, charming film. With a happy ending, and no sex or swearing. It's pretty perfect.

Plus it has Danny Kaye.

36. Guys and Dolls (1955) I quite like what I've seen of this. Although that was more from stage productions.

35. Oklahoma (1955)Best bit about this being on, seeing clips of Hugh Jackman singing 'Oh What A Beautiful Morning'.

34. High Society (1956) It's not as good as Philedelphia Story. But then what is.

33. Fiddler on the Roof (1971)I've finally seen this, and it is so very good. And so very sad.

32. Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954) I like this. It's just not better than White Christmas. Or Oklahoma.

31. Blood Brothers Now I have to stick up for this even though I haven't seen it because Willy Russell, who wrote it, went to my High School.

30. Cats (1981-2002)Love the music, like the lyrics, less keen on the actual show. Plus I've seen this live.

29. Fame (1980)
28. Jesus Christ Superstar (1973)
27. Jungle Book (1967)
26. Annie (1982) One of those film that I know every word to. Great music, great songs. Humour, dancing. And that bit near the end, with Rooster and Annie hanging off the tall thing, it scared me that much that when I first saw it I wouldn't watch the film for a year. And the absolutely greatest scene is the one at the White House with FDR, and them singing 'Tomorrow', and Roosevelt forcing Daddy Warbucks to join in saying, "Republicans as well."

I love this film.

25. Calamity Jane (1953)
24. The Blues Brothers (1980)
23. The King And I (1956)
22. Evita (1996) I love the music. And for once Andrew Lloyd-Webber got a lyricist who was as good as the music. Witty, slick and sarcastic. Love this too. Now if only I could get my hands on the full libretto.

21. Little Shop Of Horrors (1986)
20. Phantom Of The Opera
19. Bugsy Malone (1976)
18. Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat I can remember when this was the biggest thing ever. And with good reason too. Good music. Good lyrics. Interesting plot. And it all holds together.

17. Cabaret (1972)
16. Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory(1971)I'm still not sure this is a musical. Of course I love it.

15. Les Miserables
14. The Lion King (1994)
13. Buffy The Vampire Slayer - Once More With FeelingHow can you tell too many teenagers voted in this poll. Oh yeah, the presence of this, 8 Mile and Grease. I don't agree with the other ones, but I like this, even if I wouldn't have had it quite so high up.

12. My Fair Lady (1964) THE BEST MUSICAL EVER MADE.

Now quite what it's doing this low is beyond me. But I put it down to someone's idiocy.

11. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968) Good, but not better than My Fair Lady. Can I make a confession here? I don't think the child-catcher is at all scary.

10. Moulin Rouge (2001) If I wanted to watch La Boheme/La Traviata I would. I don't need some jazzed up version featuring Ewan McGregor singing badly, thank you very much.

9. Oliver! (1968) I like this. My Mum hates it. I like the music, the lyrics, the energy. She doesn't like it because it bears very little resemblence to the book. This is another thing in its favour, because 'Oliver Twist' the book, is bad.

8. Chicago (2002)I would love to have a good reason for not liking the film, even though I've never seen it. Other than stealing a certain other film's Oscar, it the casting. Once you've heard Ute Lemper singing 'All That Jazz' you can't go back.

7. The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) I like this film, I really do. It has energy, pizzaz, everything. I just don't like it as much as My Fair Lady, or Doctor Dolittle.

6. Singin' In The Rain (1952) What, a good musical in the top ten, I must be dreaming.

What's not to love, great songs, great dancing, Gene Kelly. And the genius that is the film in the film (it's even better when you know the swordfighting scenes were from a version of 'The Three Musketeers' that Gene Kelly made with completely different words - not that that film is on my list of favourites or anything ;) )

Fantastic film.

5. Mary Poppins (1964) Another great film. So much fun. And the final proof that I didn't grow up in the UK, I hear nothing wrong with Dick Van Dyke's accent.

4. West Side Story (1961) I love the music, the songs, the dancing. It's just the bits inbetween that I hate.

3. The Wizard Of Oz (1939)I really do know most of the words to this. As I proved when it was on. Sublime, fun, and scary as heck when you're 3 or 4.

2. The Sound Of Music (1965)Edelweiss, Edelweiss da, da, da, da, da, daaaaa. Okay so I don't know the words properly. But this is another good film. And a lot clever than people think it is. Just listen to Max.

1. Grease (1978)Yeah, I don't know what's wrong with people either. It's decent. But it's not great.

Other than that, the high points were that Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly were control freaks. And the programme said it as though this would be a shock. Had they looked at the way both men danced. You only get that good through a lot of hard work and I'd try and make sure my partner was up to it too.

But the funny thing was, it was untalented clods (so called film experts) that made a big thing of it, whereas Ann Millar and Lesley Caron who worked with them said they didn't mind in the slightest because it meant the work was good.

On other news, anyone who is on the Rants list might want to go have a look. I think I might have upset Dana. Please excuse me while I gloat.
