I've been a good girl today, totally avoided anything political. Do I get a cookie?

Actually, I've had a decent equivalent of a cookie today anyway. Ju-Jitsu grading. Which was fun. Wasn't being tested myself, but I was being the dummy for a friend.

Except now I'm all bittersweet about it because, well, next Thursday will be my last lesson here until December and I will miss everyone madly.

(Yeah, I'll miss people I see once/twice a week more than some people at college, but hey this has been my one constant since I was 7 so that might explain it.)

Actually, it's quite odd, this one man who's an examiner is leaving 'cause he's going to Australia, and it's wierd because he took me for my first grading and for my black belt one and oh the feeling is wierd. (Sorry that makes less that no sense but hey it's me, making no sense is normal.)

And I'm really going to miss John. And Lisa. And the other Lisa. And Paula, and Chris, and Julie. And Mal. And Emma, Tom, Dave (who is really Mike), the scary blue belts. But John and Lisa most of all.

But other than that, I stayed up most of last night reading Order of the Phoenix

Whee, Harry finally gets a personality.

And then within a couple of chapters I'm ready to strangle him. Sorry, the boy who keeps living gets on my nerves.

I think part of the problem is that I've barely escaped adolesence myself so I really don't want to be reminded of the sort of 'woe is me' tosspot that I was. Like the painting of Phineas Nigellus basically said, teenagers they're all the same. Actually that painting was fun. Yo! Ms. Rowling, there's a problem when I prefer a snarky painting to your main character.

I have to admit that I always presumed that it would be Snape that had a family like that rather than Sirius. But it does explain a few things re: the whole 'all wicked wizards come from Slytherin'.

Actually, I wish she hadn't given Snape a miserable background. I was hoping that he would come from a family as nice as the Weasleys and 'bastard' just happened to be his default setting. But her authoressness gets points for keeping him mean spirited. (Actually, I hope he doesn't die some noble and heroic death, I hope he lives and festers and becomes headmaster of Hogwarts. That would make things interesting.)

BTW, how naive was Dumbledore in thinking that Snape would ever get over his hatred of Potter et al. You don't get over things like that. I mean, I only hate two people on the entire planet, and one of them I have had two conversations with in the past two years, and each time they've been insults. I saw him yesterday, and my insides tightened up ready for a (verbal) fight automatically. (Luckily, he didn't see me.) That's never going to change.

On the subject of the Weasleys, they could not be more adorable if they tried. Except Percy who can go choke on his own self-righteousness. Don't do things like that to your mother. But yes, Ron was wonderful, Ginny was fun, and Fred and George, well they were.

On to more minor I love thems - I love Tonks, Looney Lovegood, the batch of Aurors/Phoenixers, Arabella Figg and various painting. And Peeves.

About the Pensieve, hasn't Harry ever heard of unreliable narrators. Because Snape probably made things appear slightly blacker than they were. I like the idea of the Marauders being rather more like Malfoy and gang than is good for them.

Favourite passage had to be the one with the photo of the original Order of the Phoenix.

Have I mentioned how much I loved Luna Lovegood?

Professor Umbridge needed to be smacked down. And go McGonagall. (Okay she's on the I love list too.)

Krum got a mention.

The Ministry should go hang.

Oh and yes, the thing that I am not mentioning, well I'm still coming up with a reasonable English thought about it.

I might have said something about GOF being unfilmable. That could have been an exaggeration. Order of the Phoenix meanwhile, really is unfilmable. (Can I put in my tradition if they scream this up I will scream bit - if they screw up the Thestrals I will scream)

The main reason I read it was because Ali keeps wanting to talk about it. Now I can. Hopefully we will get that meal we've been promised.

Hope there's something good on at the cinema next week, I'm trying to organise a grand cinema trip.

You know, I think the thestrals will in fact be a disaster. But, I think some of the other things in that book will translate grandly onto film.

Also - ditto to most of your observations. Have some cookies.

The Thestrals were, I think, the one part where I had an absolutely clear picture of what something looked like. Once I get an idea like that in my head (like with Lupin) I'm always going to have problems with what they do come up with.

Ta for the cookies.
