Just a little footie spam
Aug. 9th, 2003 01:39 pmAbsolutely adorable article on Francesco Totti
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,27-771617,00.html - That's the whole thing but the basic highlights are this
~~ But he is also the butt of a thousand jokes, all based on the assumption that he is dense. Although his play shows intelligence, grace and acumen, off the pitch he is a man of few words — which tend to be in a barely comprehensible Roman dialect. When one interviewer asked him if he believed in the motto carpe diem (seize the day) he replied: “Sorry, I don’t speak English.” ~~~
When they say dense they mean like lead ;) And most British male football fans tend to view him as a himbo just to add to his woes.
So he did something about it
~~~Now, however, he has turned the tables on his tormenters by collecting the jokes in a book. Entitled All the Jokes About Totti, with a picture of the smiling footballer on the cover, it has sold nearly half a million copies since it was published in June. It is on its ninth print run and selling in news kiosks as well as bookshops at €9 (£6.33).
Proceeds from the book are to go to Unicef — for which Totti is a “goodwill ambassador” — and a project for helping the elderly in Rome.~~~
And now for pictures
http://www.soccer-gallery.net/pics.php?player=totti&pic=5 (This one is my favourite, for all the wrong reasons)
Actually I must say I didn't know of the existance of this site before I went on a pic hunt, and it has been a joyful discovery.
