1) Was 2019 a good year for you?

Solid yes. Could I have done with more time and less stress, yes, but I can live with it.

2) What was your favourite moment of the year?

Feedback I got for a talk. Really nice feedback.

3) What was your least favourite moment of the year?

I got too drunk again. So far this most recent 'two drinks max' vow has worked. The next time it will be tested will be the 11th/12th January so we will see.

4) Where were you when 2019 began?

St. Helens. Last New Years in the old place.

5) Who were you with?

Mum. I suspect C had gone to bed earlier.

6) Where will you be when 2019 ends? / Where were you when 2019 ended?

First New Years in Bradford.

7) Who will you be with when 2019 ends? / Who were you with when 2019 ended?

The mothership as usual.

8) Did you keep your new years resolution of 2019?

No, so I am carrying them over. The flat will be tidy and I will hit 70 kg.

9) Do you have a new years resolution for 2019?

The flat will be tidy and I will hit 70 kg.

10) Did you fall in love in 2019?

No.

11) If yes, with who?
12) If yes, do they know?
13) Do you regret it?
14) Did you breakup with anyone in 2019?

No.

15) Did you make any new friends in 2019?

New fencers, new colleagues, new people on here. Mostly trying to keep hold of some old ones. Am presently still in full blown apology mode to two of them because of a Gmail glitch. (Update: I think I have have been forgiven, but I will continue to grovel.)

16) Who are your favourite new friends?

Oddly, I am fond of all my friends.

17) What was your favourite month of 2019?

September. September went very well. The aforementioned talk, and the trip to Spain.

18) Did you travel outside of the US UK in 2019?

Yup, Spain for fun. Hungary, Czech Republic and Poland for work. Airports in Netherlands and Belgium because of work.

19) How many different states countries did you travel to in 2019?

6. It's been busy.

20) Did you lose anybody close to you in 2019?

No, everyone is mostly keeping well.

21) Did you miss anybody in the past year?

Some of my old colleagues who have gone to other jobs. I think I will miss A, given I already miss her and she only left in September.

22) What was your favourite movie that you saw in 2019?

Blinded By The Light, probably.

23) What was your favourite song from 2019?

Is it just me or did mainstream music in 2019 suck?

I am trying to decide if the problem with 2019's popular music was it or my lack of access. I will assume good faith and blame lack of access.

24) What was your favourite record from 2019?

See previous.

25) How many concerts did you see in 2019?

0, but I will be seeing Rammstein in 2020. I now just have to convince M to give me his details so I can pay him back.

26) Did you have a favourite concert in 2019?

N/A

27) What was your favourite book of 2019?

LA Confidential. None of them are good guys, but oh ...

28) Did you drink a lot of alcohol in 2019?

Not too much. Except that one time. See previous promises re: never again. So far so good, but the litmus test will be the 12th of Jan.

29) Did you do a lot of drugs in 2019?

No.

30) How many people did you sleep with in 2019?

0

31) Did you do anything you are ashamed of this year?

The great July drinking disaster.

32) What was the worst lie someone told you in 2019?

Fencers, and fencing-related people, have decided to come out with whoppers despite knowing me and my temper. This confuses me.

33) Did you treat somebody badly in 2019?

I need to treat several people better in 2020, not because I treated them badly, but because they deserve better than okay.

34) Did somebody treat you badly in 2019?

I could do with a couple of work colleagues doing better, but other than that, no. (No, I have not forgiven them for A leaving, even if it wasn't their fault.)

35) How much money did you spend in 2019?

I could have done with more regular saving but I didn't spend more than budgeted.

36) What was your proudest moment of 2019?

Excellent talk feedback.

37) If you could go back in time to any moment of 2019 and change something, what would it be?

Stopped drinking earlier that particular night.

38) What are your plans for 2020?

I'm going to try to go to fencing twice a week when I can, and go to the gym. This is going to end in tears. Not sure if I mean crying or muscle tears but one or the other.

My Year In Fic

Fics

Relief and Regrets, PG-12 past Giles/Ethen gen fic - https://redfiona99.dreamwidth.org/1169402.html

Bitter Knowledge, PG-12 gen Frankie Kazarian fic - https://redfiona99.dreamwidth.org/1170994.html

Archaeologists Are A Girl's Best Friend, PG-12 Marion Ravenwood and Ox gen fic - https://redfiona99.dreamwidth.org/1178737.html

Friends, and all its meanings, more PG-12 past-Giles/Ethan fic - https://redfiona99.dreamwidth.org/1194635.html

If you're detecting a theme, you'd be right. While I have no written a lot, I have finished several fics that have been brewing for a fair few years. I am hopeful that next year will be more productive (there are 2 fics almost ready to go).

My favourite story this year: I really like 'Archaeologists Are A Girl's Best Friend' but that might be because I love Ox.

My best story this year: People seemed to like 'Relief and Regrets', which makes me happy because I had to go away from the prompt because the story it was asking for didn't ring true to my experience.

Story most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion: Nah, I am good with the responses. Especially for 'Bitter Knowledge'.

Most fun story: 'Archaeologists Are A Girl's Best Friend' is the only fun fic.

Most sexy story: None of these are sexy stories. Next year doesn't look promising on that front either, I don't think. There's one possible, I think, depending.

Story with single sexiest moment: See above.

Hardest story to write: 'Relief and Regrets' and 'Friends, and all its meanings'. Giles is relatively straightforward to write, but trying to hit the right tone of regretful without being mopey and self-indulgent and other non-Giles things, that was the difficult thing.

"Holy crap, that's *wrong*, even for you" story: None of these featured even a hint of wrong.

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: Not really. I was mostly playing with characters I know really well, or have set feelings about.

Biggest disappointment: There's supposed to be a kick in 'Bitter Knowledge' that I never quite managed to fit in. I originally wanted Frankie's sadness to have more anger.

Biggest surprise: I think all the stories more or less went where I thought they were going to go. I had to refocus Willow's bits of 'Relief and Regrets' away from 'why didn't you tell me', because I don't think that's where her and Giles's convo would go in the future. I think there's always going to be a slightly weird guilt thing between them, going both ways because of season 6, which I'm not sure I quite conveyed.

Most unintentionally telling story: A fair bit of the induced coma bits of 'Relief and Regrets' are based on a friend's experience.
