Oh that is awesome! 70s fashion looks so good on me and it's hard to find good stuff when you're not super tall.

Re: the second article, I think it kind of misses the boat w/ analytic readings where the point isn't really to check the facts but rather to consider the conclusions and arguments made from those givens. So it kind of assumes the author is informed and writing in good-faith... which is a dangerous assumption! But just because the factual basis of an argument isn't false doesn't mean it's a good argument (as a survey of science reporting makes plainly clear). So you really do need both!

But I definitely see the value in our current environment in shifting focus more to verifying first what can be verified/discredited. I definitely think there is too little emphasis on this when teaching writing and revising. My students would always get annoyed when I would mark their papers and correct factually untrue statements because they got used to being graded on their argumentation alone.
