Book recs needed

I need a recommendation for a colleague. She wants a book to read on holiday, so preferably light reading. It also needs to be suitable for reading aloud because she reads books to the friend she travels with.

What's not okay to read out loud, do you think? Is the level of violence in Rivers of London too much?

I am honestly not sure (plus I still haven't read Rivers of London), I did try and get a better description but that was all I got ;)
