Name that plant

I suspect it's some form of mutant tulip. Certainly when the petals are closed it looks like a tulip but the bit where the petals join is pointy and angular rather than smooth the way tulips are. And it is in an overgrown garden so all kind of pollination could be occurring.

Kinda looks like a lily of some kind? I like the idea of giant mutant tulip though.

I hadn't even thought of lilies. Looking them up, I think you might be right. The shape of the petals fits.
