Star Wars: The Old Republic Updates

redfiona99So I finally finished the main story for the Jedi Consular and Imperial Agent.
The ending of Jedi Consular is amazing. I mean, the twist for the First Son story is ... not a twist. But it's deliberately not a twist so that's okay. And you get the chance to help the First Son redeem himself, not do it for him, which is something I like in my stories.
But the best bit is when you get to stand in front of the triumphant forces of the Republic and speechify about truth, goodness, peace and being nice to each other. It's just the Consular Triumphant, and there's a real sense of the power of being good and nice. And teamwork. The ending is very big on the real uses of teamwork.
It is truly fantastic.
Plus Hollow Voice gets a new home world. (Don't look at me in that tone of voice. I like the friendly Esh-Ka. Also, there is nothing better than seeing your murderous space cow friends manning turrets to help save you.)
I'd been accidentally spoilered about part of the finale. Luckily for me, I misunderstood the spoiler.
After the mini-reveal in the Voss Shrine of Healing, I'd expected someone unexpected to be a traitor and working for the Star Cabal. Then I got accidentally spoilered, and thought the traitor would be a woman. This was further worked on by my mind when Kaliyo got taken from me by Lord Razer. I was convinced this was a fake out to get me to welcome her back with open arms and then Kaliyo was going to turn out to be the traitor, and I would be heartbroken (did I mention that this game is good at getting me emotionally involved). My next best suspect was Watcher 2. So I spent the entire end section of my Agent's storyline twitching with paranoia. And it was wonderful. (I enjoy being tormented by art.)
The speech bit at the end of the general story doesn't quite work for the Agent, who is supposed to be pretending to be dead at this point. So why am I giving a speech and not hiding?
Of course it turns out that neither Watcher 2 nor Kaliyo was the mole. Which meant the reveal was less horrible than I expected it to be. But I am not going to complain. Because if it had been Kaliyo, I would have been heartbroken.
Agent is the character where you feel your choices really do affect the overall outcome, which really helps, and there's such a variety of options at the end.
