redfiona99So I was walking round campus, and got grabbed by one of the Marxists (Trotskyite flavour) parties. Who was mildly miffed when I made the obvious Monty Python joke.
It was an eye-opening experience, because I spend my time defending the loony left, but ye gods, I now understand what they mean about useful idiots. I got all the greatest hits:
1 - Ken Livingston is not an anti-Semite.
2 - al-Assad would never gas his own people.
3 - Chavez and Castro weren't real socialists.
4 - Violent revolution is required
5 - Black Lives Matter is a capitalist smokescreen to increase inter-ethnic tension.
6 - The break up of Yugoslavia was due to the imperialistic forces of the West and Russia
7 - The patent system is a great evil, a capitalist monopoly of ideas.
8 - Lincoln and Jefferson were intrinsically socialist in ideals.
