And all the critics who didn't like it are ignorant, know-nothing philistines who wouldn't recognise a good film if it bit them on their nose.

And yes, while we're on about it, I am indeed a huge Luc Besson fan.

But yes, it was a throwback to the good old days of historical films, where the good guys did back things, repented and then died a big death scene.

And even though it messed about with history, the important facts were kept correct.

And as usual, I booed the English!

Admittedly there were problems in that Milla Jovovich isn't up there with Ingrid Bergman in the acting stakes, but everyone else acted their socks off.

And Tcheky Karyo and Vincent Cassel were in it. Yes, they are on the list of actors who I adore.

Useful trick I found with French films. If any of the following are in them, go watch-

Vincent Perez, Tcheky Karyo, Vincent Cassel, Daniel Auteuil, Jean-Hugues Anglade, Catherine Deneuve

Also if it has anything to do with - Luc Besson, Patrice Leconte, Jean-Jacques Beineix, Mathieu Kassovitz - go watch

If a film has more than one of involved, what are you doing still reading this, go watch, beg, steal, borrow to go watch.

I saw The Messenger a couple years ago and rather enjoyed it.
