Firstly, ganked from [livejournal.com profile] pyroyale

Your rainbow is shaded brown.

What is says about you: You are a deep thinking person. You appreciate the roughness of nature. You feel closer to people when you understand their imperfections.

Find the colors of your rainbow at spacefem.com.

you are darkorchid
#9932CC

Your dominant hues are blue and magenta. You're the one who goes to all the parties but doesn't quite fit in at every one... you know what you want, but are afraid of what the world might think of it. You're a little different and that's okay with them, and if you're smart it's okay with you too.

Your saturation level is higher than average - You know what you want, but sometimes know not to tell everyone. You value accomplishments and know you can get the job done, so don't be afraid to run out and make things happen.

Your outlook on life is brighter than most people's. You like the idea of influencing things for the better and find hope in situations where others might give up. You're not exactly a bouncy sunshine but things in your world generally look up.

Secondly, I'm not sure I want to read Holmes and Watson fic for the new Holmes film because I live with a fear that they will get it wrong. Because part of the charm is that, to quote Jude Law, they have a horribly co-dependent relationship, and either too fluffy or too dark would ruin it.

I also fear Adler or Mary bashing.

However, if anyone had any links to Holmes/Adler fic that they'd care to pass on? ;)

Wrestling Society X - I've only seen the first match (Jack Evans v Matt Sydal) and Spoilers )

I so plan on watching the rest of the matches that I can get hold of.

Amusing thing from the Monday pub quiz - one of the questions was name 5 out of the 6 counties of Northern Island. I got two right off the bat (Antrim and Derry), Andy gets Armagh and I am reduced to humming 'Star of the County Down' (which was our fourth) to try and get the name of one of the other two. Amazingly said trick worked. Who said folk songs teach you nothing.

Cycling - dear UCI and Pro-Tour, plus the idiots in charge of the Vuelta and Le Tour - if you do not give Astuna a place, we will all know it's because you're prejudiced idiots, because they've had no more positives than anyone else.

PS: Dear Ivan Basso, may you fail miserably at Discovery.

Ice Hockey - question for the hockey loving peeps on my f-list, who is more likely to get better first, Jarret Stoll or Mikael Samuelsson?

Have discovered why my emotions are all over the place. Dear body, it's called a cycle for a reason, it's supposed to be cyclical, not random shaped.

Other things:

OMG, there's a counter-tenor on the Last Night of the Proms. So very cool. Wonder what they're going to have him sing. Oh and John Williams is playing *that* guitar concerto by Rodrigo. I intend to enjoy myself immensly.

Going home tomorrow, which should be good. Will try and finish something, watch wrestling and beat the dragon I'm fighting on Neverwinter Nights.

Other than that, I'm not happy that Mary Pierce is in the US Open final, but this is a shock to no one.

I am amused. Not least of all by the chosen picture.

Your Dominant Intelligence is Logical-Mathematical Intelligence

You are great at finding patterns and relationships between things.
Always curious about how things work, you love to set up experiments.
You need for the world to make sense - and are good at making sense of it.
You have a head for numbers and math ... and you can solve almost any logic puzzle.

You would make a great scientist, engineer, computer programmer, researcher, accountant, or mathematician.

I try, I do try.

And the first posts of each month thing.

January - I did warn you that this would have to be done.
February - In my on going attempt at avoiding doing work I'm supposed to be doing, I shall now discuss the only vampire film ever that isn't in the least bit scary, John Carpenter's Vampires.
March - For I am bored, so I bring diva pics.
April - Actually it's not been that bad, everything is starting to sort itself out.
May - Someone just mentioned Hector, Paris and Achillies as their one true threesome.
June - AKA revision week update.
July - The stuff is having a new haircut, which I detest and which everyone else loves.
August - Reading something on my friends list about ancient Greek gods set me thinking.
September - Am back.
October - I live.
November - Okay for the first time since Saturday night I feel like myself again.
December - Sorry just been snowed under with work and have made some decision re: the immense scariness that is the future.

So mostly it's been doing things or avoiding doing things. That pretty much sums up my life.

Going back to Leicester tomorrow, see you all on the other side of the exams - I'm going on a voluntary internet blackout.
Whether I manage to keep to it is another matter.

Fic Alert

New fic up over at WWFSML, Conway/Grenier, well kind of, for once rather than the usual Las Res pairing. There is never enough Conway loving. Anyway 'Never Been Tested, Don't Think I Would Pass' PG-12 slice-of-life, Rob Conway POV kind of angsty is up here - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/wwfsml/message/90166

And to make this entry seem slightly less ficcy here is a Harry Potter personality test thingy pinched from Tamony

Pirate Monkey's Harry Potter Personality Quiz

Anyone who knows me in RL would be very amused because this is actually what they all say about me. Apparently despite my short temper and general incomprehensibility at times they think I'd be a good teacher. If I ever did I'd try to be a lecturer at a uni instead, slightly less contact and they'd actually want to be there. The worrying thing is how appealing that sounds at times - just don't tell Mum, Nan or anyone else I know that I said that, otherwise I'd get a round of 'see, that's what we said'.

Submission
You live to serve! You're most excited when someone else takes the reins and controls the situation. You're happy to do whatever will make your partner happy, even if it isn't your favorite thing to do. In the bedroom, you aim to please. Your motto is, Yes Sir/Ma'am!

The stuff is having a new haircut, which I detest and which everyone else loves. For those who watch Star Trek I have Chekov hair. This is bad.

Tennis was good. Don't know who to cheer for in one of the Men's Semis because it is Ancic v Roddick or rather, Goran's protege v my favourite active tennis player (he makes me 'aww, isn't he cute', which is a bad thing).

Am quite happy with the result of the football. I don't like Portugal but I like Holland even less. And how fantastic was it that the one time Van Nistelrooy scores a goal that isn't offside it gets disallowed for being offside.

However having now seen highlights of the Czech Rep v Denmark game Jesper Gronkjaer is on my hitlist. For deliberately getting Nedved yellow carded. If he has to miss another final I will actually scream and throw things.
There was an interview with Milan Barros. Dear Gerard Houllier, I realise you're well out of it now but playing him a little more often may have been a good idea since Owen wasn't on top form and Heskey is Heskey.
And an interview with Smicer. He's grown up so much.

If Christiano Ronaldo would stop being good I could carry on being horrible about him. As it is it seems a little churlish. That and him and Van Nistelrooy talking at the end was quite cool (they both play for Man U but were on opposite sides tonight).
And how fired up was Figo?!

Schmeichel, Hansen and Wright, chaired by Gary Lineker are the punditry dream team.

Oh and from the Telegraph, Theo Zagorakis, Greek Captain and ex-Leicester City, used to hang around our student union because he didn't know much English and we have a tonne of Greek speaking students. This amuses me greatly.

England 1 - 2 France aka the most painful stoppage time loss for quite some time. I shall explain - England were 1-0 up. Into stoppage time, Zidane scores a beautiful free kick. Steven Gerrard fucks up massively, leading to David James having to concede a penalty. Zidane converts, final whistle blows. From winners to losers in three and a half minutes. The last time it was this bad it was Italy on the receving end of a French comeback. This is not helped by the fact that David Beckham had previously missed a penalty which would have sown the game up for England.
