Y'all have failed me on the actress heads-up front.

Vanessa Ferlito is in NCIS: New Orleans!!!!!

This is not a drill!!!!

She's the new series regular (replacing spoiler). And, get this, the character is canonically a lesbian. Oh Bellisario productions, you are spoiling us.

So we're probably putting in for a flat. This means there'll always be a floor for any of you lot while I'm still in Brum. I am trying to be calm about it, but I'm torn between panic and an odd sort of calm, which I think might dissolve into panic at any moment (AC/DC are helping with the avoidance of this).

The second viewing led to me observing on of the most fun game of verbal chess ever. What was actually meant in italics:

Mum's boyfriend: "So, do you have any idea why this hasn't sold yet?" ( Are you expecting us to actually meet your full asking price?)

Seller: "Well, we've had offers but they were insultingly low. We don't need to sell so we just walked away." ( Pretty much, yes. )

~~~~
Another funny thing was how different Mum and her boyfriend's memory of the flat were from how it actually was. Like totally different. Not just size of rooms, but things like colour and what state they were in.
Friend of mine is just back from New York and on the way back she got the surprise of her life when Richard Branson decided to wander through economy class on her flight, checking that everyone was having a nice flight.
Nico Rosberg will never be one of my favourites but I'm so glad he's finally got a win under his belt.
Knitting
So Operation Hat, and the knitting pattern that makes no sense, are finished. Unfortunately, the hat is probably too small for the intended recipient. Therefore, we move on to Operation Bigger Hat. Any tips on how to knit more loosely are gratefully received.
Shakespeare Meme - Day #14: Your favorite fight scene
I've been obvious and gone with the one at the end of Macbeth, as found here
It's the McKellen version, even if I was wrong in blaming Peter Hall for the direction, apparently we're to blame Trevor Nunn. It has the advantage of also show the 'tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow' soliloquy that I mentioned yesterday. It has the disadvantage of showing what I didn't like about that production. Sadly, it doesn't even with the award for worst lit Macbeth I ever saw (via TV), that goes the the Antony Sher one. Which annoys me because they had Harriet Walter as Lady Macbeth and I couldn't see her. And before anyone says, surely it's the words that matter, not the visuals, if I'd wanted to just hear it acted, I've got the Ken Stott radio version on tape, and that's perfectly satisfactory.
Just wondering whether nitrous oxide (or whichever NO-variant it is) has suddenly become a party drug in the US, because after many years of hearing it's name in the past tense for that usage, suddenly three krimis in a row have had it as the drug of occasion (Miami, SVU and then New York).
NCIS is back in my good books because the wildly right wing military krimi is the one that pointed out how wrong it is was that it's so much easier to get a warrant to raid a mosque than it is for any other religious building.
The uptick in US drama has had a good effect on UK drama, and even better, they've realised that British TV doesn't have the money to outslick US TV so they're going back to the kitchen sink. Score one for realistic drama. It's even more fun when it's the fantasy dramas that are doing kitchen sink (a la 'The Fades').
I know it doesn't need saying, but Danny Houston (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0404111/) can act. Just seen 'The Proposition' (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0421238/) and yes, well, it plays exactly how you'd imagine an Aussie based Western written by Nick Cave would run.
Enjoyed is the wrong word, but it's good.
Adverts:
The adverts have been doing some fun things again.
I particularly like the new Guardian one, even if I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be getting from it.
One of the Aldi ones is class too - http://aldi.co.uk/uk/html/service/23225.htm although they're all quite fun (http://aldi.co.uk/uk/html/service/7232.htm), I particularly recommend the tea one.
First a question - why do all* the wrestling fanboys hate TNA with such an unholy passion. Seriously did Jeff Jarrett or Dixie Carter going around individually peeing in their cornflakes or something?
* for varying definitions of all, in my case, any wrestling message board I have ever read seems to despise TNA.
Secondly, bitching about this week's RAW )
About Kid Kash being sacked - is it really bad that my first thought was 'well, that's Noble screwed, again!'. Because I think it probably is. And to think last week I was so happy to finally see the Kash and Noble tag team on last week's SD.
Actually, given the amount of squeaking I was doing over that and an old TNA Dutt v Kash match, I can kind of see why my Mum thinks Kid Kash is my favourite.
On to NCIS - please tell me I'm not the only one who spends most of her time hoping for Di Nozo to end up on the wrong end of a beating. A hard one, that might, you know, get him off my screen for good. Sorry, I realise he's supposed to be annoying with a heart of gold, and I know it's not the actor's fault, but seriously, Di Nozo pushes every last one of my 'kill' buttons.
Anyone who's seen 'Thoroughly Modern Millie' might guess why I'm practically unable to type that without cracking up.
It was very good. Great fun in fact, and had one of the best closing curtains I've ever seen. And the New York set design was great.
Plus, I was practically in love with Jimmy from the first time he appeared.
Unfortunate downside (only joking) is that Mum's been serenading me with 'My Mammy' all day.
Also, Opera, you might like it, because Millie is the kind of naive character who gets up and does things anyway that you've always expressed an affection for.
Then I watched 2 episodes of 'NCIS' back to back. Reason number 4 why I like this show, when Kate asked Gibbs what Ducky looked like when he was younger, Gibbs replied with "Like Ilya Kuryakin". (Which okay, is amusing only if you know that Ducky is played by David McCallum who also played Ilya Kuryakin.)
Also I saw episode 1x24 "Revaille" again. And if you ignore the hot foreign-ness of Ari, he's how I imagine Snape's character, re - certain events at the end of HBP. As in )
Fileg was talking about a show called Navy CIS or NCIS or whatever it's actual title is. I like crime shows so I might have watched it anyway but she dangled the fact that it has David McCallum in it so I couldn't resist.
So I watched and ended up hooked. Good science, interesting, imperfect characters, it's a krimi, really it's like they designed a programme just for me.
But anyway, I was watching episode 1:23 "Revaille" and I recognised the bad guy but I just couldn't place him. Accent sounded familiar.
Anyway, I looked it up on IMDB, who's servers I kiss as usual, and it's the guy that played Dracula on Buffy. I'm amazed I've actually seen his face now (the only other time I did was when he appear on an Enterprise ep as a scrunchy forehead alien) and it looks different. And the Buffy make-up artists did some seriously good work because he's as dark as I am, if not darker, and they made him look pasty white.
In short:
