I know I should say Willow, because geek girls ought to stick together, but, especially in the later series when she'd stopped being all about Angel (okay, so pretty much any series after the second) Buffy, and what they did with her was just really interesting. Because the show makes it clear that being the Slayer is a terrible weight to bear, and just because she has friends and family around, it doesn't get that much easier, and that weight (plus a variety of other things, including various apocalypses, various boyfriends both regular and undead, and dying herself) does start to warp her to a certain extent, and that the show is willing to go there, and make her very unpleasant in parts of the last season, was incredible. But the show makes it clear why she's like this and then at the end, there's the hope that with the gift being passed round more people, it might not do this to the next slayer and you're happy for Buffy, and that she might have a reasonable life after Sunnydale.
