Okay so we've had nice weather for two weeks, and then the day before the class photograph (the big important leaving college never to return one) it rains. So I've got to wash my hair, even if no one will see me on the picture.

But gah!

Chemistry course work has left even the most stable of my friends in either raging panic, a foul mood or tears. Since I am less calm and collected than them at the best of times I've been all three. But it is nearly done.

I'm beginning to think that 'Know Your Enemy' is the Manics most underrated album. Because yes, it's less obviously personal than their others, but that's because they would have ended up slitting their wrists if they'd made another one like them. What do music journalists want? Blood.

Oops, they've already had blood. (The Manics for those who don't know used to have a guitarist called Richie Edwards who once carved 4 Real into his arm to try and show that the Manics weren't the big fakers the idiots in the music press made them out to be)

But yes, it's good musically, more inventive than a few of their albums, it also has this wonderful depressed, cynical sense of humour. The best example of this is a song called "Miss Europa Disco Dancer" which is one of the best disco pastiches going.

Then again another of the songs, 'The Convalescent' does contain the line, 'And Brian Warner has a tasty little ass'. The mind boggles.
