A Rant About TNA

Dear TNA, this is the worst match stipulation you've had since Feast or Fired. That's not something you should be proud of. First of all, as a stipulation, it ties your hand for a year, and given how uncertain wrestling is especially with regard to injury, I don't see why you'd want to do that to yourselves. Even if you then hand-wave the stipulation away because of a rash of injuries, we, the fans, will remember, and we will both mock and not be happy.

The other problem is who you're doing this to. I get that it has to be big names for this to work, but let's look at them individually.

Bobby Roode is one of the three functional heels you have (I'm sorry TNA, Aries has been a wonderful heel before, and will be again, but his present positioning just doesn't work). He is the only one of the three anywhere near the title scene. Why would you even try to block him from that.

James Storm, now I admit I am not sensible on the topic of my darlin' Cowboy, but really, it starts to smack of a conspiracy to keep him in situations where he can't get the title. (No, I'm still not over Lockdown. I will never be over Lockdown. It remains the most aggravatingly over-booked finish to anything ever.)

AJ Styles, who can have a good match with anyone. It's the greatest virtue any wrestler could have. Why would you take that option out of your main events? Yes, I get that (much like the Cowboy), Styles doesn't need the belt to be interesting/beloved/the centre of a plot, but he deserves a chance every now and again.

Another problem is that this breakdown makes it quite clear which two wrestlers are more likely to eat the pin and I don't want either AJ or Storm locked out of the title scene. (I'll be honest, I think it's more likely that it's going to be AJ and that infuriates me. Not that I want it to happen to Storm, who remains my favourite, but AJ deserves far, far better than that.)
