Liveblogging my day, part 1
Nov. 26th, 2011 08:32 pm09:46 - Get woken up by my mobile going off. It's my Mum. We talk and I'm far too awake to get back to sleep so I go to work. It's probably an hour earlier than I would have woken up under my own steam since my favourite weekend luxury is not turning my alarm clock on.
10:08 - Get into work, set things to be defrosted, make buffers, hope emulsifying machine is working.
12.30 - Emulsifier is working! Yay! Set everything going, check it's working and leave for lunch. Protein purification will commence when I return.
14.15 - Return to work after a filling tapas meal at the Arco Lounge - http://www.thelounges.co.uk/ Yes, they're a chain but their food is sooooo good. Brief detour on the way to buy fruit and nut mix, which is like catnip to me, I cannot resist, and rather annoyingly the Sainsbury's where I do my weekly shop (I want to add 'am forced to do my weekly shop there'. What I wouldn't give for a Co-Op or a Morrissons.) don't sell fruit and nut, or certainly not for less than £3 for ~ 100g. I also found some chocolate covered marzipan in the grocers I use for my fruit and nut. Yum!
On the way back I stopped off at home to pick up my mobile because I'd left my charger at work.
The rest of the afternoon will be spent:
Purifying protein
Replying to e-mails, comments etc.
Cross-posting my LJ to my more vanilla RL journal, which I always do on a Saturday
Watching F1 qualifying via bbc.co.uk/formula_one
Following the football via the bbc.co.uk live text which, rather sadly, has become my prefered way of following the football - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/9647559.stm
At some point switching over to the Windows machine to update the website and to work on this damned talk I've been talked into giving.
19:35 - I now know purification hasn't worked. Suspect one step in particular, run an SDS PAGE gel to determine if I'm right. Even if I am, the problem can't be rectified without another 4 hours work so I'm going to run the gel and then go home.
