RL:
I try not to be judgmental. I do my best to be 'your thing is not my thing, but that's okay', but that my housemate and his girlfriend go around making cat-noises at each other all the time (like instead of "where are you", it's miaowing up the stairs, it's miaowing instead of when's lunch etc) is fecking wierd.
That they're doing it while they're supposed to be at work/studying, somewhere, I don't care where but out of the house is more than a little annoying.

Again for the Ladyfest 10 ficathon.
There is only one thing that the gossip in this little university town says about Marion, she's a poor motherless creature, and she'd be a perfectly good little woman with a female hand to guide her.
A disturbingly large number of women in the town that are willing to be that person. She thinks it because, if she steps outside herself for a minute, her father isn't a bad looking man, and not as old as the other professors. That and the job would be quite attractive, even if he does come with baggage. Her.
She thinks they'd be okay with that, thinking they could turn her into them, and even if they didn't there are always boarding schools, particularly on a professor's salary.
Of course, they don't know about the Grail, and that Pops isn't interested in anyone who isn't mad about it. But it's their secret, so she doesn't laugh at them when they try and tell her how to behave.
She's fourteen now, likes her smokes and likes her bourbon, and they keep saying she can't keep doing the things she does, wearing raggedy trousers and running off with her father to digs. Some of them mean well, like Mrs. Goggins at the local store, who still passes her free lollipops sometimes. She came down once, to pick something up for Pops and she saw Mrs. Goggins do the same for Mrs. Iversen who had to be fifty or something, but then again, they must all still be children to Mrs. Goggins.
Most of them don't mean well though. They think she plans to spend her whole life here, fading into the background of her husband's achievements. She's not, she's blowing out of here the minute her father does.
"Hey, Indy, you walking back to the college?" Indy's her father's new research assistant, she thinks he's swell, and he's normally willing to talk to her about something useful like archaeology. The only trouble is he walks too fast, but she'll keep up somehow.

A song people wouldn't expect you to like.
This could actually be any number of later Backstreet Boys song. So yeah, story time.
I was an obnoxious brat when I was younger and very much anti-boy band. I had a dear friend who was far too into BSB. I accepted that they were at least the best of the obnoxious wailing creatures and that they were at least fun nonsense.
So we get older, and I actually get more stick for liking Slipknot than this unexpected fondness for BSB. Then the later stuff comes out, and normally, with boy bands, you had the "ugly" members that could actually sing, and then the "pretty" ones that couldn't and with this lot, even if the "prettiest" member was the worst singer, they could at least all sing. And then I noticed that the high pitched ones and the low pitched ones were singing in totally different keys, and then there was this poor unfortunate in the middle having to do both, resulting in some hideous jazz key signatures.
Anyway, so Ads, another friend (who I'll have to get back into contact with when I'm back home for more than 3 days in a row) and the kind of person allergic to boy bands, and he's like, yeah right. So I play him "I Want It That Way" and he suddenly sees it, and it's like 'still not my kind of thing, but I'll admit they're good', which sums up my feelings too.
