Writer's Block: A rose by any other name

I like my birth first name, despite knowing what it means, although, due to a mix of deafness and not caring, so long as I know it's me you're talking about, I don't much mind what you call me. I even get on with my middle names, even if I normally take two gos to spell one of them.
I am, however, very particular about my surname. It's a mis-spelled version of a semi-common, but very foreign, surname. I don't mind spelling it out. I mind if, after me spelling it out, you still stick extraneous vowels in there. Or that look half of you get of 'is she spelling it right?'. I assure you I am. A priest, somewhere in the mists of time, undoubtedly spellt it wrong, but it's stuck, and will stick until my dying day. (Possibly longer if I do take over the world.)
In this, I'm the exact opposite of my Mum who hates her first name and her married name. The best part of it is, everyone assumes she's called Margaret, and she hates that as a name too. She'd change her surname back to her maiden name if the paperwork weren't such a faff, but that wouldn't help the spelling problem as her maiden name is also an uncommon variant of a common surname.
Basically, my family are doomed to have awkward names.
